Ducote's precheck numbers are always 500-600 range. I bumped him up to 4.5 units a couple of days ago. This morning he surprised me when out of the blue his precheck number was 291! I went ahead with the 4.5 units but I am nervous about it. Since he normally drops around 200 points 4-6 hours later, is this going to bring him too low? And to add to the nerves this morning, I have to meet my family for my grandmother's birthday lunch today so I will probably be out for a few hours around peak insulin drop. I have been stuck in the house for weeks but it sure is like him to pick today to throw me a surprise curve ball lol
I plan to check him right before I leave. Am I right to be overly nervous or am I just overreacting because this is a first for us? Should I have gone with a lower dose or was I supposed to stay the course with 4.5 units?
