Raised Joe to 3.5

I will not be able to check at his +2 again tonight. I would not miss it but I have seriously life-saving stuff. Catching two cats that live in the bushes at an apartment before the marshall comes to clear them out on 8/18 (he will euthanize) and I have found a friend to take them. I TNR's them last week and have been looking for someone to take them. I will be bringing them to her and then helping with FVRCP shots and should be able to be home by +3.

So much work you take on, that’s really wonderful for those kitties.
+3 is totally fine in this case. If you post his +3 the second you get it, I know I’ll be around to help right away, as I’m sure you’ll be wanting sleep at that point.
What does your schedule look like after his shot? I assume you’ll be giving it and running out the door?

I am giving it and then leaving yes. Some colony cats to feed that a friend usually feeds but she left for vacay today. They eat at 8-9pm (EST) and then I am picking up the other apt cats and meeting my friend. She does not get home until 9pm so I might be sitting in a parking lot passing time for awhile. I should be home by 11ish and that will be +3

Ok, sounds good. You might want to get a test at one hour before his shot to see how his blood sugar is. He might end up being significantly lower than normal at shot time. And if you get a +11, then you can post here for advice if it's potentially going to be a new low number you're never shot at.
Does that make sense?

yes. So I will get him +11 in a few minutes

Is there any chance anyone thinks I should just shot 3.25 since I cannot be home for a couple of hours after his shot?

I was going to the pet store to get some Tiki Cat after dark and see if it is the gums in Weruva that are giving him diarrhea. I figured if I feed something other than Weruva for 3-4 days and it cleared up, I might be able to deduce that he is allergic to the Guar Gum.

Never had a chance to answer this. Not a bad plan to see if he's allergic to Guar Gum. Poor Joe. I hope he's being good about all the ear pokeys today.
Sorry I stepped out for a sec, glad Janet was around. I will be here at his +3, for sure :)

Smorg, thank you for your help today with what I gather is called a steer. I did my evening things, accomplished all including getting kitties from bushes to a garage with a nice tower and some food waiting for them.
Just tested Joe at his +3 and it is 197

You're welcome! A steer yes hah. Steering that blood sugar away from too low numbers.

Joe is giving you the night off. Excellent! I'll see you two in the morning and maybe we can do some more steering :)

I am just at such a loss at what to get him. I am having a hard time with it. There are a couple of Tiki Cats that are low carb and low phosphorus and they have no Guar gum in them

Try posting a thread asking for food ideas? I'm sure lots of people here have a similar dilemma.
I know I've seen it mentioned, I just can't remember who it was...

Hi, Susan. Sending good thoughts your way today. Hope things calm down for you soon and that all will be well.

In Joe's spreadsheet, the header row showing the hours on top disappears when I scroll down. I am not sure if that happens for you too, but if it does, you can fix it by "freezing" those top rows. To do so, click to left side of the row that shows the Date, AMPS, U, +1, etc. For me yours shows as the 4th row. If you click on the "4" to the left of the date, it selects the whole row. Then at the top, click View, then Freeze, then up to current row (4). Once done, you should be able to scroll down your spreadsheet but you will continue seeing the hours on top which will save you a lot of time if you are now scrolling up and down each time. Please let me know how you do.

P.S. Pro-Pectalin syringes are back in stock at Chewy.
Hi Varlene
I wrote to Chris (Chris and China) who helped me set up my SS and asked your question and this is the response I got, copied and pasted below
"There's actually no way to do that on the spreadsheet others view. I guess the person that mentioned it just hadn't noticed it before on other's spreadsheets."
Chris did add another line with the hourly +'s (for your viewing pleasure lol)
Thanks

Hi, Susan. I think it will be helpful for you to do it so you don't have to keep scrolling up and down to view the column headings when your spreadsheet gets longer and longer. If you do it, I am pretty sure it will be visible to anyone who views it. Before I mentioned it, I actually looked at smorgasbord's Templeton SS to see if the column headings were frozen, and they were for me in view mode. Hope this helps. Perhaps if @Chris & China (GA) set up your spreadsheet Chris has rights to freeze those header rows for you via instructions posted above. It is not necessary to keep adding the hour row if you just have it frozen in place at the top, but not every user knows about it or how to do it.

I do not have to do it. The hour line follows me as I scroll. I am sorry to be so stupid here but one more thing confusing my brain is one too many. lol

I tried what you said to do. Please check and see if it is working how you like it now.
thanks

Not frozen for me. Are they frozen for you? You might want to look at smorg's ss to see what I am talking about if you haven't yet. Or you can look at my Smoky SS, but just please note that Smoky has acromegaly so he needs a lot more insulin than a cat without the condition. But like your Joe, Smoky gets those same bounces plus the unexpected lows that make me need to set an alarm for +6 hours every night.

You're not stupid! Yes, the hour column isn't viewable on my end still. We could see if @Bandit's Mom could take a look at it. It's been said she is a spreadsheet wizard.
The top rows stay frozen only if you use the SS sharing link (ends in "usp=sharing") and not the pubhtml link. It's not a big deal - most people use the "pubhtml" link in their Signature (as per the SS instructions). If you want the view with the top rows frozen, use the sharing link in the Signature.

I may have just confused you more, @Susan Pomo . I say, don't worry about the top rows not staying frozen/fixed :-)

Thanks Bhooma! That sounds easy enough to try. Not that big of a deal if not, I think most of us can handle counting to 5 if we need to look at Joe's +5 ;)

Thanks @Bandit's Mom. Susan's spreadsheet does look to be in a different format than Smorgasbord's as shown in the following screen captures. Now I know why. I will stop pestering Susan about it. : )
Susan's SS top: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hm6v249x082fcqa/Joe.png?dl=0
Smorg's SS top: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5pd8vevo1cudo5a/Smorg.png?dl=0

I guess it is not possible to insert pictures, only URLs?
That I don't understand either, why some users have the fancy Google Sheets formatting and some don't.

You can insert pictures. Just have to copy and then paste. If it doesn't work, try hitting spacebar and then "Post Reply".
And you can call me Smorg, I adore it ;)

The difference in appearance of the spreadsheets is also because of the URL (pubhtml vs sharing link) :-)

You can drag and drop pictures. Yes, it's a pain! The upload function doesn't work!

Dear Smorg: I will try it the next time I have a pic to post--either your way cut+paste or Bandit's Mom's drag & drop method!! I love that being here can be a learning experience. Many thanks. :)

I added the hour row to make it easier for you (and any others that find it helpful to have the numbers in the same window without having to scroll)

As I told Susan, it's not possible in the format that people are asked to use. I wish it was because there are times it would have been helpful for me too (like at 2am in the morning when my eyes won't focus and trying to count cells is crazy....LOL)

Just in case anybody else wants to see the different formats, this is the one we're asked to use in the instructions

This is the one the owner can see (and the lines DO lock on this version)

Great job keeping on the testing today. Excellent data on how this dose is going.
He sure can drop if he wants to, and you were on top of it.

Looks like his +2 is lower than his preshot. I would suggest setting an alarm and getting up later to make sure it hasn't dropped too low.

I will check it at +5 then. 1am
So that is the general rule then? If the preshot is higher than the +2, there is a chance they can go low?

I believe if the +2 is the same/similar or lower, then there is a change of going low.

EDIT: never mind, that's what you said, but in a different way. ;)
