Question on setting up Hester Sue's spreadsheet

I am putting the info into the spreadsheet.

I began giving Glargine as directed by the vet, but without a meter on hand. I did 1 shot Friday 9/4, night, 1 Saturday morning, 1 Saturday night, and one Sunday morning. Sunday I was away for almost 8 hours and came home to Hester Sue in hypoglycemic shock.

I was only able to begin BG testing Monday evening, 9/7/26

I have BG data since then, but it seems to me the huge dip on Sunday informs the numbers I got after, and if I don't somehow enter that data on the SS, it will look like those numbers are her "normal" numbers, not a bounce after an episode.

Can i enter that info somehow, with the units given but no BG data? OR is that unhelpful to the helpers?

And while I'm at it, some guidance in editing the profile and putting in info and a photo would be appreciated, if anyone has the inclination.
 
No replies. I went ahead and filled in the SS starting with her first dose, even without the testing.

I think I need to go in and adjust some of the + data, since it hasn't all been on the hour, and I am still not understanding the instructions on that.

We took a break from shooting, but have resumed this evening. I am gun shy/syringe shy after her near death experience. But her numbers are creeping up.
 
It's good to fill in all the data you have! There's a remarks section that you can fill in any other info you think is relevant or may be helpful. For example, my boy has rear leg neuropathy, so I've been making note as he gets better.

When I don't manage to test right on the hour mark (or close), I do the closest quarter. You can see my 9/16 +2 test was done closer to 4:15 (his shot time is 2). So I just wrote [blood glucose] @ 2.25. It won't fill in the color automatically, so you have to do that manually, which can be done from the top.

Thanks. Crowley's chart is informative. i hadn't even noticed the remarks section. I will add info when i get back tomorrow. And now i see how to adjust the time in the box itself.
I just made out first post in the Lantus et al forum, but no responses as it is late everywhere.
 
I did make some adjustments (I added the average section for myself just to see if I could see any trends).

Yes! A lot of people here are in Eastern or Central time, I think. I'm on ET, but I do night shift, so I'm juuuuust about to get off work! So you'll see me around late a lot. But there are people from around the world, so you will get people through at all hours.

the spreadsheet looks good, the main BG data is important after shot and two hours after shot +2 this is when the insulin usually kicks in, and a BG data 2-3 times during the day if you can see how the insulin is working, feeding 3-4 small meals or snacks during the day is also important, plus the two mail melas prior to shot, so TEST-FEED-SHOOT

I wish my schedule (not a schedule, as it is highly erratic) allowed me to be here every day at +2, but it often does not. And there is no one else here to do it. So on days like Thursday when I don't get back until +6, and test immediately, I steel myself for the worst when I come into the house, and do not relax until I see both cats greeting me. I test then, and put down a little food.

Not every cat is like this, but for whatever it’s worth - Moonie drops very early if it’s an active cycle, and I found that even +1 or +1.5 could be extremely informative. If you find that’s the case for Hester Sue, you may be able to squeak by with a +1 if your schedule permits.

Also having a timed wet food feeder might help ease your mind too - so Hester Sue can eat if she’s dropping too quickly.

days like today the schedule does not permit. I am leaving late as it is in order to feed and shoot on Thursday morning. I can't move it up and get any sleep, and several times a month I have to be away during the evening shot time.
 
As Connie said a wet food feeder (Walmart, Chewy.com) comes in handy program in it with some food at +2 is important to keep the insulin in check, especially with your schedule and the same for the 2nd shot programing the feeder two hours after shot, soñé feeders hace chips and caneras
