Question about today's numbers

    Hello again! Still learning about this diabetes thing and Lantus, but could there be any reason why today's numbers stayed close to the same after his AMPS? Maybe there is no answer to this question and that's ok! Just curious as I am still learning :)

    It takes several cycles for the depot to stabilize after any kind of change. That may be one explanation. It may also be that Dallas liked the 1.5u dose and between the skipped shot and the dose reduction, things are leveling out or it's not enough insulin. You'll likely need a few more cycles to know.

    As a rule, Lantus is a gentle insulin that doesn't have the same potency as the shorter acting insulins. In other words, it doesn't slam numbers into the ground. Numbers gradually readjust but due to the nature of the depot, that adjustment is gradual. That's the long winded way of saying that Lantus teaches us patience.
