Private equity vets not using Chewy's Pharmacy

Something that I saw on Reddit. Private equity vets are supposedly not using Chewy for prescription meds now. Just a heads up if your vet suddenly discourages you from getting meds from Chewy.

Just FYI, PE vets are moving to not using Chewy’s portal, forcing people to use the PE med company. You CAN use Chewy but you have to MAIL them your physical prescription. PE is battling it out with Chewy basically.

In this economy too :blackeye: Vets charge at least double of what Chewy and other places charge.

I have also realized that Chewy is not taking order from the link Tim supplied. I tried again this week, and the order is not accepted
 
Our primary is not according to that link, but one of our secondary (and the only one open Saturdays) is listed. I wouldn't get a prescription through them unless it was an absolute emergency, but they have been good (in years past) about payment plans and bringing in a cat that is not a regular. I wonder if that has changed too. My current vets used to work for that office and split to create their own business.

It's not just PE vets. It may not even be all PE vets. I know several privately-owned clinics that don't do Chewy's online authorization for scripts. However, in most states vets have to give you a written rx on request and those can still be sent to the Chewy Pharmacy to authorize an online order. You just choose the option to mail in your rx instead of having the pharmacy contact your vet. Write your order number on the paper rx before mailing it to avoid delays!

Rx for prescription foods can be uploaded into the "prescriptions" option on your Chewy account.
 
I looked at the above list and discovered that my vet is PE, but he calls in most of Jude's scripts to a local compounding pharmacy. There are other drugs that I purchase through the vet. For these drugs, I suppose I should look at the price I'm paying the vet (corporation) vs. Chewy (or another source) for a price comparison. I hate it when corporations get involved in any medical care because the animal and cg are almost always on the losing end, especially from a financial perspective.
