You're not alone in this, your extended family is here with you. It's still very early here, but I'm sure you'll be getting lots more visitors soon!:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Just read through all the posts of last night. I am so sorry for what you are going through. Sending tons of healing vines and Prayers for you and Saoirse. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I completely understand what you're going through... I would be just the same as would others here. You're doing all the right things. All paws tightly crossed here for a good outcome.

Thank you, Diana. :bighug: I'm so glad you were here this morning. I'm sorry I didn't get to post to let you know the taxi had arrived to take us to the vets.

Talking of the vets, it's Saoirse's main vet looking after her. He really cares about her.

.
I only read your thread very late, Mogs - it's the overseas crew who kept you going. And don't apologise - we knew you were en route to the vet.
It will help a lot if Saoirse has a vet who cares about her - she will feel that and it will be reassuring for her (as it is for you).
Try and get some rest if you can - maybe lie on the sofa and play some soothing music?
Diana

Mogs, there's a saying hat goes around on Facebook every now and again, and it surely fits this case, it goes like this:

"You never know how strong you are, until being strong is your only option".

I hope you can find some comfort, both mental and physical, in knowing that everything that can be done, is being done and that you've done a wonderful job taking care of Saoirse.

A calming technique I learned about 18 years ago when my husband was very ill, using your hands, gently rest your thumb pads on your cheekbones and very gently slide your finger tips across your forehead and temples. I also find that gently rubbing into the hairline and making some circular motions and slight pressure along the hairline of your temples feels wonderful.

Mogs, I'm just catching up. Sorry you and Saoirse are going through this. Like everyone says.......breathe and breathe again. Both of you are in panic mode. For you to help Saoirse, please try to relax a little. She will pick up your anxiety. Can you grab a cup of tea and a great big pillow and blanket? Sit on the floor next to her, talk to her, sing to her or just sit quiet watch tv. She will calm down when you do. She is confused and will startle easily. You can do this, you can do this.....

Ah Mogs I am so very sorry to just be tuning in and hearing this. Please know that you and Saoirse are being held in my thoughts and prayers. Sending Reiki to you and your baby. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh my goodness, (((Mogs))). Have just seen this thread...

Hang in there, sweetie. We're all here for you. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Try to get some rest while Saoirse is the vets.
And drink plenty of water to flush those stress hormones through your system.

Abdominal breathing works for me (especially when I get panic attacks at night).
Put your hand on your abdomen and feel it rise and fall as you slowly breathe in and out. Counting maybe to 4 or 5, or whatever feels comfortable for you, can also help to give a focus initially. You'll start breathing more deeply and that will relax you a bit. As your attention shifts to your body you will feel less 'in your head', and that in itself has a calming effect.

Sending prayers that Saoirse recovers very soon.

Ok Mogs, now it's time to take care of you. You need to get centered so when she does see you, she won't pick up on that fear. Don't load yourself up with anything sugary, because you'll crash once the sugar has worn off.
You could probably use some potassium, because you will be depleted from the stress. Do you have any bananas in the house? If not bananas, how about some potatoes? Potatoes are high in potassium. Mix up a dish of mashed potatoes and gravy to help you sleep.

If you have beta blockers, that is good. Warm milk is good. And believe it or not, dark chocolate is good. The higher the concentration of cocoa, the better. 1.4 oz of dark chocolate will cause a release of endorphins.

Put down the mars bar, though. That's got too much overall sugar. Do you have any cocoa in the house? Use double the amount of cocoa, to make a strong chocolate drink..it'll be bitter, but bitter is good.

Ok now go to bed. Do a hot bath first if need be..but what you'll need most is sleep.:bighug:Go on now, scoot. To bed with you.

Still here. My friend just came to visit and he fetched some cat food on the way over.

Thank you, Eliz and Jeanne for being there for us. :bighug::bighug:

Haven't been able to sleep. Exhausted and so cold. Tears still coming but they'll get rid of some more stress hormones. Alternating between numbness and fear.

Thank you, everyone, for being here. So grateful.

Oh Mogs I was traveling and just saw this thread - I am so sorry that this has happened
you are very brave and stronger than you think
You have always been there for all of us and know that we are all here for you, sweetie
massive amounts of hugs and love and calmness to you and Saoirse

@Sue and Oliver (GA) -

Thank you for your lovely message; one that captures everything that is so precious about this wonderful community of such loving, compassionate, and giving people. I can't put into words how deeply grateful I am to everyone who is here now to help my beloved baby and me in our time of such great need. It means a lot to me to be able to do some little bit to pay forward for the help and kindness I have received from other FDMB members in the past and, with a heart full of gratitude for all that everyone here is doing to help me to help Saoirse, I shall pay forward again.

You all have my love.

Mogs, I have just read through these posts. I am so sorry that Saoirse is unwell, and that I was not around during the night to help, I just feel awful about it! I do so hope that her vet has reassured you this morning. I am sending all prayers and healing thoughts to you and Saoirse. You are the first person here who was strong for me when I was terrified, I'd like to help being strong for you now. (((HUGS))) Please do keep us updated!

Hugs, hugs and more hugs Mogs. You did it. We all knew you could and you did. I'm sorry you didn't manage to get any sleep, but maybe now you've got Saoirse home you'll manage a few hours. Your main vet sounds amazing - it helps so much when you have a vet who really cares about her wellbeing. :bighug: :bighug::bighug:

Hi Mogs,

I wish I'd seen this before you went to pick up Saoirse.
How is your baby doing now??
Is she still feeling nauseated, gagging, signs of pain??

A bleed in the anterior chamber in the eye can block the 'trabecular meshwork' (eyes drainage mechanism) this can cause a rise in intraoccular pressure, if it rises sharply and high enough it can be very painful and in humans certainly causes nausea, and might well explain her behavior yesterday. The bleed will eventually clear out, and until it does it's going to be near impossible to tell what caused it. The most common cause of an anterior chamber bleed in humans at any rate is trauma. Has she had any knocks been scrapping with other cats?

Do you know if your vet was able to check her intraocular pressure ( I imagine it would be difficult if not impossible to do without sedation)
If her intraocular pressure is raised they may be able to give her eye drops to help relieve the pain and eye pressure and limit inflammation. It's worth asking your vet about.

prayers and hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug:

(((((Mogs and Saoirse)))))). I am also just seeing this right now and I'm so sorry I didn't see it sooner. You are stronger than you know because you made it through a horribly scary night. Your baby feels your love and knows she is the center of your heart and soul and that will provide her healing.

I am sending all the strong healing vines, white light, and snowflakes I can muster as well as all the strength in my spirit to share with you and Saoirse.

Mantras for Ascension

Listen to a sample El Ka Leem Om

Listen to a sample Kadosh, Kadosh

Mantras for Ascension contains an extremely powerful mantra and a chant you can use to clear your field of excess emotion and keep your heart open to God. The Hathor Chant will clear the auric field through the four lower elements all the way down to the earth. It allows you to clear and expand your pranic tube while connecting to Mother Earth. The Kabbalistic Chant will clear the field through all the dimensions, all realities, all the way back to God. Both are great for clearing emotions. Read more here...
I wasn't able to open this and sure wish I could. What a lovely thing for you to post for Mog even though I couldn't experience it, I am sure it was beautiful.

Update: Saoirse is Back Home from the Vets
-------------------------------------------------------------

The vets managed to get a large enough blood draw to run some in-house tests as well as sending samples to IDEXX for more precise assays. They have examined her eye and checked her heart rate and blood pressure.

Preliminary Findings - In-house Blood Tests and General Physical Exam:

BUN - back in reference range.
Creatinine - stayed in reference range.
Phosphorus - increased from 1.57 to c. 1.6. (Not great - higher dose of phosphorus binder was given since 1.57 reading at beginning of November. She eats a food too high in phosphorus because it's the only one I've found that she can tolerate pancreatitis-wise.)
Thyroid - Just below lower limit of reference range in November. Now in reference range but higher. Vet thinks it is a possibility that other issues may have been masking hyperthyroidism. However, for the very reason that Saoirse has other endocrine issues it's not certain. Waiting on IDEXX assay before doing anything further and will run another panel in 3-4 weeks' time. (Had to ask him to repeat that particular phrase. Asked if Saoirse was in any immediate danger and he replied in the negative - anti-jinx, anti-jinx.)

Liver markers - don't recall them being mentioned but that is no guarantee they weren't, given my current mental state. If there was anything really iffy I would have remembered.

Elevated blood pressure - 175 (ref range 135-170). Rx: Amodip (amlodipine) 14 days then re-evaluate.
Heart rate - fast (didn't specify pulse rate).

Saoirse was very stressed as is normal for her at the vets. She was very scared, too, and in pain so the vet doesn't know how valid the measurements are. He is going to visit us at home at the beginning of next week to get a more reliable measurement of BP and heart rate. (Last home BP check was 140.)

Eyes:

As posted earlier, at this morning's vet consult, Saoirse's eye was cloudy. Vet used medication to dilate the pupil and tried to determine what was happening inside Saoirse's eye. Both eyes were checked for surface lesions.

The unaffected eye is OK so far (anti-jinx, anti-jinx). The affected eye has some ulceration which the vet thinks may possibly have arisen secondary to inflammation in the eye; the irritation may have caused Saoirse to rub at the eye, giving rise to the ulcer. I'm a bit fuzzy on the source of the bleeding (my head is even more of a mess than usual) but I think he said it was from the ulcer. Meds dispensed to soothe the affected eye (Isathal eye drops) and drops to dilate the pupil (Minims Tropicamide) in order to prevent adhesions and hopefully enable a more thorough exam to determine exactly what's going on. He had no opinion on what caused her to retch and be so nauseated overnight but suggests it may have been down to stress. I did advise him that the little bit of discharge I wiped away from Saoirse's eye last night had a pale pink tinge to it. I asked whether it was possible that some blood/other fluid drained through Saoirse's sinuses and therefore she may have swallowed it resulting in the gagging and major clinical signs of nausea which I observed last night but he didn't think that was likely. Based on the number of doses of the pupil dilation med dispensed he plans to re-examine the affected eye on Monday.

(A bit more to follow shortly ...)

Hiya Mogs! So you get to bring your baby home? AWESOME! I'M SO HAPPY for you! I know you're writing that update now, and we'll hang on every word. What a relief! :joyful:
Now, go get yourself a Mars bar...it'll be a nice pillow for your face when you pass out on the keyboard.

Oh heck, eat the darn thing and go sleep where you can keep one hand on Saoirse. You've both earned a good refreshing sleep. Big hugs!

That all sounds really very good so far all things considered Mogs. Wonderful news that he doesn't think Saoirse is in any immediate danger (anti-jinx) - I'm so relieved for you that overall the results are good. :bighug: :bighug:
