We got off to a good start this AM, with Squallie jumping right in to eat breakfast but, sadly, he walked away less than half-way through. With much cajoling, and bribery with HC treats, I managed over the course of 4 hours to get him to eat maybe 2 oz of a 3 oz can; I kept adding water as it sat and dried out, so he should be reasonably well hydrated.

The good news: I gave in and bought a bag of YAZC for him, because I know he loves it, and it came just a little bit ago- I put maybe 1/4 cup in a bowl and he scarfed most of it up, and at lightning speed for an old dude with no teeth! My mother, who was an RN, always said if you had serious cravings for something, it probably contained something your body was missing, and you didn't even know it. I have always kind of subscribed to this theory, so maybe there is something missing in Squallie's diet that the YA supplies, and his body knows it. Could be; who knows?

I will probably syringe some water and or broth a little later to help combat the dryness of the food, but at least he ATE. I have no idea what it will do to his BG, in the past it has raised it, but at this point, I'll deal with that happily, if he eats and poops. Now, fingers crossed for no vomiting, and some serious pooping!

Once again, heartfelt thanks to everybody who has been so incredibly helpful and supportive during this awful episode; you are all true angels here on Earth, and Squallie and I appreciate you all more than you can possibly imagine.❤️

Great news about Squallie eating!! You can always dose around it if it raises his BG. I just realized this morning one of my civvies just do not like wet food that much. He prefers Dr. Elseys. Then it is what it is.

Thanks, Mandy! :bighug::bighug::bighug: Yep, it is what it is! I've got plenty of insulin, so if he needs more, he'll get more. Right now the most important thing is to get him eating and pooping! :cat:

Good news! I would not care at all what he ate as long as he is eating! Now maybe the YA will increase his fiber and you will see a LB deposit!
Thanks, Sandi! :bighug:❤️:bighug:
Exactly! I'd feed him anything his sweet little kitty heart desires, as long as he eats! Fingers and paws crossed for some good poops, now. :D

ETA: We had a long talk this morning about how all that bad, old poop needed to go, so he could get well again! I believe they understand when we have serious discussions with them, lol. ;)

The vet asked how he was doing, what his activity and demeanor were, and I said he still had plenty of energy to run away from me when he wanted to. The vet quipped, "Squallie doesn't know he's 20!", lol!

We have POOP! :woot::woot::woot: It's not a whole lot, but it's finally making it's way out! I am 100% certain that there is more to come, it's very dense and "sticky", if you know what I mean, so I think it may take a few trips to the box to rid himself of it completely. Few times in my life have I been so happy to see excrement, lol! :woot::):):):cat::cat::cat::):):):woot: He is in obvious discomfort, thouh, so I think I'll go ahead and give him soe od his bupe. Oh, and he did eat about half of his dinner, and I syringed some water with his meds in it - he was not too happy about that. Syill got some to go, but I'm going to wait till the bupe kicks in, no point in having him miserable at both ends!

On the downside, his vet is really pushing for the US, he's pretty sure the mass he felt is cancer. The doc who does the US is only there on Thursdays; I was hoping she'd call me back today but she didn't. Hopefully her tech will call tomorrow so I can set up an appointment for next Thursday. I am worried about it, but I'll deal with it when I know more, and the constipation issue is better. Right now I can only handle one crisis at a time.

This is THE funniest group on the web!:eek::eek: No one else celebrates pooping as much was we do...well, maybe some geriatric folks (it is after all an absolute obsession of my 88 y o mom!!)...gotta say...life depends on just a few things; eating, drinking and pooping...who knew we'd all be down to just a few elements in order to feel our best?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Great news about the poop...:) :) :)
