We got off to a good start this AM, with Squallie jumping right in to eat breakfast but, sadly, he walked away less than half-way through. With much cajoling, and bribery with HC treats, I managed over the course of 4 hours to get him to eat maybe 2 oz of a 3 oz can; I kept adding water as it sat and dried out, so he should be reasonably well hydrated.
The good news: I gave in and bought a bag of YAZC for him, because I know he loves it, and it came just a little bit ago- I put maybe 1/4 cup in a bowl and he scarfed most of it up, and at lightning speed for an old dude with no teeth! My mother, who was an RN, always said if you had serious cravings for something, it probably contained something your body was missing, and you didn't even know it. I have always kind of subscribed to this theory, so maybe there is something missing in Squallie's diet that the YA supplies, and his body knows it. Could be; who knows?
I will probably syringe some water and or broth a little later to help combat the dryness of the food, but at least he ATE. I have no idea what it will do to his BG, in the past it has raised it, but at this point, I'll deal with that happily, if he eats and poops. Now, fingers crossed for no vomiting, and some serious pooping!
Once again, heartfelt thanks to everybody who has been so incredibly helpful and supportive during this awful episode; you are all true angels here on Earth, and Squallie and I appreciate you all more than you can possibly imagine.

. Glad Squallie pooped and hope the poops continue and he continues to eat better for you
