Hello, My male cat named Kitty (main coon) has been diagnosed with diabetes back in May.
I have no idea how old he is (at least 10 that I know of) because I found him outside starving after a neighbor had moved away.
The vet put him on 2 units of Levemir twice a day. I changed his food to low carb and have been trying multiple types such as Tiki cat, Fancy Feast Classic, and Friskies Pate. Kitty has lost a lot of weight and muscle mass the poor cat really is skin, bones and fur. There are no other issues other than diabetes but I am having trouble getting the poor thing regulated.
Since the cat was losing sooo much weight I bought the contour next gen test meter yesterday so I can see what is really happening. His sugar is always high even with low carb food! And this is what I have so far. 8am before food and shot 476 gave shot and friskies pate tested again at 10:30am he was at 493 tested again at 12:45 pm 471 tested again at 2:56 and he is at 556! Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
