PLEASE LOOK AT MY CAT'S "PRINCE'S" SPREADSHEET. @-) I need help. confused_cat I am so concerned he is going too low now AND he is NOT on INSULIN. Anyone here had or heard of readings like this. Is this normal? I have remarks on the spread sheet so look closely. Should I be concerned he will go too low? Is there something else going on with his kidney's, tumor or what? PLEASE any response I would appreciate.
We have a wedding to go to today. I am worried about leaving him alone. I did feed him as I posted on his spreadsheet. He is NOT AT ALL ACTING LIKE HIS BG level IS TOO LOW. In fact he is doing so much better the last week, more energy and all.
thanks so much for any help. Candy

Hiya,

Actually Prince is doing great and that is a very normal number for a kitty that is OTJ or for that matter a non-diabetic. If it helps look at Max's ss in my sig. You will see he has days he is much lower. Prince can not go hypo without insulin on board. He is just giving you beautiful normal numbers.

lol just read the note on the side of your spreadsheet...is numbers about going down because he looks like he wants to be broken...lol With Max when I started seeing those numbers I tested him a couple times a day for a few weeks now we are down to once a week just to make sure he stays OTJ...But yes Max was 485 at dxed , with a week of Lantus and a diet change he was OTJ in 2 weeks tops. So to answer that question on you spreadsheet...his pancreas is starting to work again and he very well may be broken as well. Certaninly looks to me like he is headed that way...Congrats, time to party not worry.

What a lovely problem! Looks like you may have a kitty headed toward remission. Sometimes a diet change and a little insulin is all it takes. Keep taking tests for a couple more weeks to make sure he stays in those lovely numbers.

Remember, once a diabetic, always a diabetic. So no dry food ever.

Ditto to both replies!
Lucky you - looks good!
With no insulin, that is great for mid day.
Enjoy the wedding!

I'm curious what his diet was before the prescription dry food? This seems to be a case of grain filled/carb filled food induced diabetes if he was on dry food previously. Congrats - 14 days off insulin means OFF THE JUICE!!! 3 more days to go!

He was on Science diet hair "ball control" wet food and dry food of it too. Yes, I do think it contribute to it all.
This morning I took his blood sugar and it was 118. dancing_cat I am hoping it will continue this was too.
He is an older cat, 17 years old and still drinks more water than he use to. I do believe he is having some type of kidney problems going on due to age though. The vet is rechecking his kidney levels again in 3 weeks. Until then at least his glucose levels seem to be staying in the more normal ranges. cat_pet_icon
THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE QUICK REPLIES TOO. :-D
