You are correct, Lantus is shot twice a day. Don’t go to once a day. That never works.
You still have room to move to a lower dose.
The doses after 1 unit moving down are....0.75, 0.5, 0.25, 0.1 and then a drop.
If you want a strong remission you need to move down through these doses which is giving the pancreas time to heal.
Once a cat falls back out of remission, it is a lot harder to get them back into remission the second time. So it’s worth the effort the first time.
I would also get a before bed test in every night. You don’t know how low Pantera is dropping at night. He could be dropping quite low.
He is doing very well for a newly diagnosed cat so hang in there.
Did you stall this morning to see if his BG rose at all?
You can start reducing your preshot number a little each time as 4.8 is safe to shoot if you have the data.
The skinny that you are shooting is probably a 0.75 units, so I think I would give 0.75 units as he is not ready for skinny doses yet.
