Hello Lantus/Levemir Land - been a while since I started a post. Some of you may remember my other kitty Theo. His pic is in Neko's profile, lying beside my girl on the kitchen floor. About two years he started daily vomiting, which led to an initial diagnosis of IBD. Six months later vetty saw migration to small cell lymphoma. We have been treating and he's been symptom free for over a year. His ultrasound in January showed completely normal bowels.

When I got back from my trip to California and Arizona this last weekend (meetup with Marje, Karen, and Liz), DH said he was drinking a bit more. His BG test showed normal. Two nights ago he started going off his food and I whisked him into vetty yesterday for blood work and X-rays. The X-rays did not look good. :( Initial thoughts are the lymphoma has spread. Liver, abdomen are enlarged and there is a possibly pulminary mass.

Theo is the most affectionate cat I've ever known. He loves cuddles and has been known to lick my face from top to bottom. Today, he licked the tears off my face. He's been pretty quiet - his belly is swollen and likely has fluids. I'm getting about 1/2 the calories in him with him licking it off my fingers. We could use some of those powerful LL vines.:bighug: Tomorrow we are off to critical care. The oncologist is solidly booked and his vetty thinks it's time for some supportive care. She's also been consulting with Neko's IM vet at the same clinic. We'll see if we do an ultrasound for further diagnosis or what the next steps are.

So if I don't respond to tags in the next little while, you will understand why. In addition, about 3 weeks ago I had to haul my father from their island home to ER - he has kidney failure. He's back home now - but needing extra care. My plate is full.

I'm so sorry Wendy. Hugs and prayers and vines. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Would you consider chemo injections? If some cell has become large cell it responds more quickly than small cell. You would need to see the oncologist quickly. I had to start through the ER but I already had a diagnosis.

Thanks to all of you for stopping in and caring. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

No real news so far. I am home and Theo is at critical care. They will drain some of the fluid from his abdomen to make him more comfortable, as well as another set of X-rays and will try to sneak in an ultrasound with possible fine needle aspirates. They will analyze the fluid to see what they find. All signs seem to be pointing to the lymphoma coming out of remissions and spreading, but that's just a guess until we get the evidence. ER doc will consult with the oncologist when she has more data. She said that typically once kitty comes out of remission it's much harder to get them back in. :(

In my muddled mind today I forgot to take him a T-shirt or pillow case. :arghh: Of course there is a whiny dog in the ER room. Theo was big eyed but looking around. To top it off, I finally got Theo to eat some food off my fingers this morning, when DM called with a crisis on the island. Crisis averted, but after that I had to syringe feed. :banghead: There was some talk about possible feeding tube - we'll see if that's necessary. Thankfully Theo is pretty good about assist feeding - Neko trained me well.
