Hopefully you can get there early in the morn to see him, hang in there Wendy

to you, enjoy your snuggles tonight

He's home, a little wobbly from the sedation for the needle aspirates. They found masses in the lungs and on the pancreas. Probably not good - though results on cytology won't be until tomorrow. Cytology results on the fluid in the abdomen did not show any abnormal cells. They drained 300 ml (over a cup) of fluid.
Tonight we snuggle, tomorrow the doctor will call when she has the results of the tests and we'll discuss what happens next.

Mama and Papa bean need good news. For now hold him tight and headbutts.

OH my god, Wendy. I am just reading this, and I am so worried for you and Theo. I'm sending every bit of love and support I can muster, healing vines, purrs from 15 kitties, and my prayers (odd though they be). You both will be in my thoughts from now on.

hopefully they can find some answers soon.Hi Wendy,Hello Lantus/Levemir Land - been a while since I started a post. Some of you may remember my other kitty Theo. His pic is in Neko's profile, lying beside my girl on the kitchen floor. About two years he started daily vomiting, which led to an initial diagnosis of IBD. Six months later vetty saw migration to small cell lymphoma. We have been treating and he's been symptom free for over a year. His ultrasound in January showed completely normal bowels.
When I got back from my trip to California and Arizona this last weekend (meetup with Marje, Karen, and Liz), DH said he was drinking a bit more. His BG test showed normal. Two nights ago he started going off his food and I whisked him into vetty yesterday for blood work and X-rays. The X-rays did not look good.Initial thoughts are the lymphoma has spread. Liver, abdomen are enlarged and there is a possibly pulminary mass.
Theo is the most affectionate cat I've ever known. He loves cuddles and has been known to lick my face from top to bottom. Today, he licked the tears off my face. He's been pretty quiet - his belly is swollen and likely has fluids. I'm getting about 1/2 the calories in him with him licking it off my fingers. We could use some of those powerful LL vines.Tomorrow we are off to critical care. The oncologist is solidly booked and his vetty thinks it's time for some supportive care. She's also been consulting with Neko's IM vet at the same clinic. We'll see if we do an ultrasound for further diagnosis or what the next steps are.
So if I don't respond to tags in the next little while, you will understand why. In addition, about 3 weeks ago I had to haul my father from their island home to ER - he has kidney failure. He's back home now - but needing extra care. My plate is full.

I got the ultrasound and radiograph summary this morning via email. Looks like the mass in the lungs is a fatty mass so the pancreatic mass is the one of more concern. Unfortunately, neither is operable. I just heard from the vet in person. I’ve been dealing with the critical care doctor and she got flooded with business this afternoon. She got the aspirate results back this afternoon, and they are inconclusive. Ugh! Apparently the pancreas doesn’t like giving up it’s neoplastic cells so it’s not unusual for a pancreatic cancer to be undiagnosed with an aspirate. Imaging is pointing to that result, but we have no proof. So the roller coaster of emotions begins again. Not sure what else it could be though.
I’m off in a bit to pick up some buprenorphine and fluids. I may try some mirtz for an appy stim, as much as I worry about the side effects. I have some two year old cypro, but I don’t have the expiry date and not sure if it’s still any good. I will try the fluids and bupe first.
Theo doesn’t seem to be nauseous. He is sometimes attempting to eat. I tried some stinky tuna cat food today and he licked the liquid and ate a few pieces. He just didn’t eat more than a few bites. He also ate a bit from some chicken/venison cat food, but mostly the liquid. It’s like he gets tired of it. He’s not lip smacking, just not interested. So calories are mostly coming from a syringe.

for you. Please give him some extra scritches for me.

Theo is a beautiful kitty. More vines, and purrsToday's update, little change. No bad effects from the Mirtz, but nothing really positive either. Theo ate a couple of bites of food on his own, then stopped and that was it. We had some sunshine so he was in the solarium for a while. He's currently purring in his bed beside me, probably a little stoned from the bupe, it's a higher dose than he's had before. But he isn't wobbly.

Thanks for the ongoing vines.
