? Order of operations

I have seen a couple different answers to this question here and elsewhere, but at the moment I have been testing, then dosing, then feeding. Quite close together (minutes usually) just cause it is easier to get him with the needle when he is up on my lap for the poke. He is on lantus which I understood takes longer to become fully effective ....

Lantus onsets around +2. Here we test first to make sure it’s safe to shoot, then feed to make sure they will eat and then shoot, all within 5-10 minutes.

I also do this order because Chloe prefers to have the shot in my lap than anywhere else. I watch her pretty vigilantly to make sure she eats something within 15-20 minutes. It's always a bit of a dance because she doesn't really get along with my civvie and food time is a bit chaotic with him.

Thankfully Jax has no competition for food as he is fed up where the dog cannot get to and he almost ALWAYS eats as soon as it is down, eating nearly the entire portion quickly. He picks at the remainder, especially if I add a little more water (as he inhales the moisture from the food pretty quickly)
