Walmart also has their house brand Special Kitty in the big cans and the turkey and giblets and mixed grill in that is under 10% carbs also. And last time I looked I believe it was still under $1 per can, but since Friskies just jumped in price it might be just a little over a dollar now.
Also I really like their Special Kitty Brand Cat litter, it is low in dust, clumps well and so far they seem to be tracking it through the house less, and a 27 lb box is like $7, and with 11 cats we go through a lot of litter and cat food.
Right now with our glorious rainy water (I'm married to a roofer), money has been tight, we haven't gone over to the Special Kitty big cans yet, but still with still feeding Friskies in the small (5.5 oz.) cans it runs us about $50/week for pet products that takes care of food and litter for 11 cats and food for an 80lb drooler.
Another place I cut costs is watching for online coupons as well as those that come in our sunday paper. Alot of times you can just send a nice email to the pet food company and they will send you coupons for their product of your choice. Done that a couple of times with Friskies and gotten coupons for several free cans.
Luckily I have lots of friends with cats and most of us are broke...lol So once a month we get together at someone's house for lunch and trade cat product coupons, and cans of food we have bought and kitty turned his/her nose up at. I have one civie here that will love a flavor one week, and then the next week look at me like I have two heads for serving that vile stuff to him...lol Alot of times we will also make toys for shelter cats (and of course samples go home to our own cats) at these luncheons.
Kmart also has a rewards program where you earn points that can be turned into cash on everthing you buy as well as you get a recipe coupon off your next pet product purchase and several times a year I can pay for the Fur Gang's food for the week with just points. And since the points are good on anything in the store, they've saved my tail a couple of times between paychecks, for things like milk and eggs.
Just a few of the things that I have found to shave a little of the cost of caring for a bunch of furry babies, hope it helps.
