hi,
lulu's bg is 179 amps and he ate 1/2 a 3oz can of food, but i don't know if i should give him insulin or not. he ate a snack this morning around 6am, but his schedule shifted last week... and i just got in from work and it's low for him. i was expecting him to be in the 300's, but i guess he didn't eat as much as i thought this morning and he's less hungry now than he was yesterday. what to do?

Thanks Sue... you rock!
He's on Novolin N right now.. it's been really inconsistent and we are probably going to switch, but what to keep something constant for a week at least before we do so.

I will test him again in 1/2 hour.

poor kitty ears! :-|

I forgot it was N. That is a long time on N for such a nice number. I wonder how low he went overnight... If you are getting that long of a "surf " on N, if I were you, I would be cautious about the dose. Remember with N, usually (although there is that every cat is different thing) the lowest point is early, like 4-5 hours after the shot.

It may be that the food change and the tooth issue is kicking in and you may not need much insulin and not for long. This is a time to be testing a lot and being careful with the doses.

Add Using Humulin N to your signature. That will help people who are advising you on doses.

Thank you Sue, I have printed out that info and have it posted for others around the house too cause our neighbors sometimes come in to give snacks.

He was 174 at +5 and snacking so I will keep an eye on him but looks good. I will also be sure he's eating too.
