Not really interested in eating today

Oscar tested at 322AMPS this morning, ate a little and has his shot. Usually eats almost all the small can of fancy feast. He never ate the rest and had a few licks of his dehydrated freeze dried chicken (his chicken soup) which he usually runs to. Wouldn’t even eat a piece of cheddar cheese which he likes. Drinking fine. Walking around fine.

came when I called just now to check his blood which was 301 at AMPS +7.

last night he had some rotisserie chicken and his regular food and wondering if it just upset his stomach.

what do I do at his PMPS test 5 hours from now if he hasn’t felt like eating?

Have you gotten a ketones test in recently? I'm worried when you say he's lost his appetite and knowing that his Lantus dose was started too low. Is he showing any signs of nausea? Sniffing food and walking away, hanging out by the water bowl?

Note, we don't change doses based on preshots, but rather how low the dose is taking the cat. Even cats getting anaesthesia who cannot eat, still can get a half dose. As you can see today, he hasn't eaten much but got his full shot and his numbers haven't budged much.

Sounds as if he may be a bit nauseous. But others will probably have better input than me.

My first port of call when Whiskey is feeling a bit off (she gets bored with her food fast and I need to try new flavors which sometimes don't agree with her stomach) is a half a cerenia. Usually about 45 minutes to an hour after that she'll eat and be just fine for the rest of the day.

Okay I called his internal medicine doctor and gave her numbers etc. she will see him tomorrow at one and no food after 7 AM in case of tests.

Oscar finally ate a few pieces of rotisserie chicken and a few licks of fancy feast beef pate. ( as I have 5 different plates of food to chose from). Doctor said give him his regular insulin because he is still in the 300’s and try to get him to eat something even if I have to mix stuff together and tuna juice.

So I just got tuna in plain water which he ate a spoonful like he was starving …..and friskies salmon pate. I never give him fish but he had to eat.

update: after trying the tuna he had more rotisserie chicken and some friskies salmon pate. Course he missed his testing since he ate all this one hour before his shot.

This morning he woke me up as usual at 6 AM . He tested at 279 . Gobbled up his food half a can of friskies pate salmon. Just tested at +5 and is 299. He has his appointment soon and he had to fast for 6 hours so no food since morning. He is hungry. And back to his old self. Yesterday may just be a fluke. Maybe his lantus is starting to kick in . Hope so .
