Monster won’t eat more than a tbsp of food each time I feed her. I have given her a small amount of laxatone twice. We keep having all these issues and we will never be able to start the insulin. I don’t want to use MiraLAX because I got keytones from the main ingredient in MiraLAX . I am not diabetic. Anyone used benefiber ? I have it here but was reluctant to start. I don’t see how she is constipated at 90% wet food and extra water added to each meal. She had cerenia today and helped a lil. So frustrating. Three vets and no one addresses this issue.
 
I don't understand why you aren't starting insulin. What insulin are you going to use and what is the dose? If a cat needs insulin, you don't want to delay starting it, though you could lower the dose.

For constipation, another option is psyllium husk fiber. Don't use Metamucil as it has sugar added, but plain psyllium husk is available. Start with a pink per meal.

What food are you feeding her? is it what she ate before the diabetes diagnosis?

Do you think she is nauseous? Does she show interest in food but walks away? Smacking her lips or any other unusual signs? I find that ondansetron is a better drug for treating nausea in my cats.
 
She is full of poop. As soon as she went she started eating again. I don’t feel it is something I can do and contemplated giving up my beloved cat to a home that can take care of her better. I’m exhausted and maybe it will get better once I just get over the feeling that I’m going to send her hypo and she won’t be here anymore. Also by delaying I am keeping her sick. I need to stick that libre on her and get over it. If I have that and start at .25 it will be fine. Maybe all the things that are exhausting me like constant feedings and cleaning three litter boxes and fountains will get better. The food change has been challenging. She spent all week last week extremely sick from a bladder infection or struvites or who knows what. I can’t start insulin in a cat that is not wanting to eat, and puking and peeing all over the place. That to me seems like a death sentence. Maybe I’m overthinking it.
 
I'm worried about the risk of DKA, which is very serious.
The basic recipe for developing DKA = an insufficient supply of insulin + inappetance + infection OR other systemic stresses.

At a minimum, it would be a good idea to test for ketones regularly.
 
I test for keytones daily . They were low yesterday. I have a blood meter from when we were on Bexacat. I have been testing more frequently because of puking will raise them and not eating. On my sugar sheet I write notes about ketones.

She eats a lil then walks away and goes and lays on the floor. I tried to get blood this morning for bg but poked her three times and gave up. Got keytones and they were .01. She was very uncooperative this morning. One time it said low but I’m sure that was an error. She eat most of her breakfast but hasn’t eaten much since. Should I put out dry food since she is not eating wet? I will give cerenia on my lunch break.

You can also give her a small amount of raw egg yolk. Never give raw egg white....just the egg yolk. Start with 1/4 tsp and see how that does. It helps with motility. I give my kitty egg yolk powder every single day (1/4 tsp twice a day) and she never has hairballs or gets constipated.

As Wendy said, psyllium husk powder is also good but you must be sure she is drinking adequate water.

Yes. She has to eat because it is extremely important you start giving her insulin. Her numbers are way too high. Since you are giving cerenia, I’d also ask your vet for ondansetron (zofran) as it also helps with nausea from a different modality. Also ask for MiraTaz transdermal appetite stimulant. Once you control the nausea, you can use the MT and it does not have the side effects of the pill. You can use it daily.
