I know all the info for numbers are based on using the ReliOn human meter. I have been using the Alphatrak and for now want to continue with it. I still have stock of strips etc.
Omy spreadsheet, those numbers are based on the human meter? Is there a way for me to convert those to what matches the Alphatrak?

Hi Susan,

There is no conversion between human and pet meters. From experiences of other caregivers, we know that they tend to diverge at the higher ranges and come closer together at lower numbers. If you're following TR with Lantus, the only number that is important is with a pet meter is 68--that is the one where you reduce the dose. When a cat goes below 68, it's a "low number" situation and you need to intervene with higher carb food.

The numbers on your spreadsheet are already the numbers for your Alpha Trak
Were you asking if those numbers you have are for human meters ?

Also I see on your spreadsheet you noted
Started reintroducing dry food (Tiki Cat Carnivore 10% carbs) on 9-23
Are you still feeding dry food, this is too high
What low carb wet food are you feeding?

Ok great! I wasn’t sure if those #s were for the Alphatrak.
I started introducing the dry food but I am going to try my best to go back to wet only. He did eat the tiki cat dark rabbit tonight but now I can’t find it! Hopefully it will come back in stock. He eats the Purina organic ok so I am going to keep going with that one.

Have you looked at the food chart, most of us feed Fancy Feast Classic Pates or Friskies . I never heard of Purina organic, do you know how many carbs are in it.

Or is Leo allergic to the FF and Friskies?
I see a member posted this on one of your past posts about food

Do you know if Leo could tolerate green lip mussels? They are the source of Omega-6 in ZiwiPeak foods. They have venison, rabbit and lamb, and lamb varieties. Koha is a relatively new brand and they have limited ingredient varieties that would be OK with Leo's allergies. It looks like most are under 10% carb.

Unfortunately Leo has food allergies. He was blood tested and is allergic to beef, pork and all fish except salmon. Here is a post I had made about it

it really limits the food I can use and of course the ones that meet his allergies he doesn’t like. He loves fancy feast and tries to sneak the other cats food. The Purina Organics is .5% - .9% carbs. I called Purina and verified that with them. He can only do the chicken and carrots. The salmon one has liver that could be pork or poultry and fish broth with a mixture of fish. Ugh! It has been really difficult finding foods for him.

Yes I just looked at your post, sneaky Leo trying to sneak the FF :p
I'm sorry he has so many allergies , I hope the tiki cat comes back in stock for you.
I have to say Leo is a very handsome boy

He is such a sweet boy. He is the only one we’ve had since a kitten. We took in his mother when he was a baby.
When I tried the Tiki dark rabbit before he didn’t want to eat it but tonight after sniffing a couple of times he ate the entire can! I’ll have to search and see if I can find it in stock somewhere.
He is very sneaky. I have to stay in the room and put the uneaten food up ASAP or he gets in it.

Aww bless you for taking in his mother. I hope you can find the tiki cat soon. It was nice talking to you Susan, I'll check in on Leo often to see how he's doing :cat:

Great taking to you too! I’m so glad I found this forum. Everyone has been so helpful.
We just took in 4 new ones. An around 1 year old male, a 3 year old female and a momma that is only around a year old and her baby. We are back at 7 kitties, a dog and a bird the 3 yr old is a full Persian and had been declawed! I don’t know how she ended up on the streets or how she survived but she’s a queen in our house now.
We had a rough 2020 and lost 3 babies that year. One 16-17 year old to a heart condition, an 8 year to severe health issues and a 10 yr old Beagle to lymphoma. We also lost a fur baby in 2019 to spinal arthritis. We do all we can to give them a great life. We don’t know what they endured before they came to us but we know from here on out they will have the best life we can give them.

Oh Susan you are such an amazing person for doing all you do these furbabies.
Someone had to just dump the Persian on the street, and you're right how did she survive out there especially being declawed. A one year old with her baby, such a young momma.
Susan do you get all these kitties from a shelter?
Bless your heart Susan !
Tyler had a brother named Perry, I adopted them both when they were babies.
My poor Perry passed last Oct from kidney failure
He was my heart kitty. I never had a cat that loved me like he did
I love Tyler like crazy but Perry was so special to me. I just miss him so so much!
He was 12 when he passed. I did everything I could for him, fluids, binder, .
He was in stage 2 for many many years then started to get worse.
Sometimes I can't even think about losing him that's how upset I get.
Tyler is in remission since 1-24-21. It took 2 years and 4 months .
I hope Leo's numbers start to come down .

Sometimes it can be overwhelming, but I just can't turn them away. They have come from different places. Of this last group, one was a stray in our neighborhood and 3 were at the dealership where my husband works.
I love Tyler & Perry! We had labs once that were Frank and Sinatra :) Hearing you talk about Perry makes me think of Kitty (we didn't mean to keep him so we just called him the black kitty and then ...well...that was his name) He was my baby. If I was home he was beside me or in my lap. He passed away due to spinal arthritis that eventually caused paralysis in his back legs and from there a UTI that he just couldn't overcome.
I am so happy that Tyler is in remission. I pray that happens with Leo but right now I just want to get him regulated. I've had to take matters into my own hands because my vet doesn't seem to care about the high numbers. The vet just recently announced taking another job in another state so this is a good opportunity to hopefully find someone who takes it seriously. There is a newer vet in the office. I am considering seeing her since I find the younger vets are more up to date on treatments.

I actually named them after Aerosmith, Tyler for Steven Tyler and Perry for Joel Perry. My favorite rock band. Frank and Sinatra, that's so cute.I hope the new vet works out, talk to you soon :cat:
