Nigel just came back from his glucose check at the Vets. I tested him at home at 8:30 and his BG was 97. After his two mile yowling all the way ride there, his BG at the Vets at 9:00 was 98. I couldn't help but smile on the inside while replying on the outside "That's great". She has no explaination as to why his need for insulin is not necessary now. She did mention a possibility of a insulin producing tumor on the pancreas growing??? I have no idea....Anyway, he goes back in two weeks for another glucose check but I also requested the bloodwork to recheck his BUN/Crea and pancreas number since they were high almost two weeks ago. So, for now we are good.
I can't help but remember last Friday today. My 2 friends from this group were coming out to help me learn to test Nigel at home for his BG. They spent three hours with me answering questions and trying to help me relax. Great ladies!! I am SO appreciative! Many thanks...I'm still not the greatest at testing---I think it took 5 pokes this morning. But I feel more confident each time. And Dian, "no" to the thicker lances. Can't add bigger holes to Nigel's ears---LOL. Again, thank you all for being here when I really needed help. My biggest regret is NOT joining in November when Nigel was diagnosed.
