Hi Everyone, I’ve been lurking around here for the past few weeks - our 12 year old Maincoon (Tony) was diagnosed with kitty diabetes just a few weeks ago… he was in rough shape.
He went from 20 lbs down to 11.6 in 6 months, and was 50% underweight according to the vet. In February he also had some teeth extracted and we were trying all kinds of new foods… so we assumed the weight loss was attributed to that, until he was getting scary thin!!
Anyway, I wanted to say thanks for all of the information… he’s been home after being regulated for just over a week now and is doing AWESOME! Put on almost a full pound!
We’re a young couple (my fiancé and I) in our mid/late 20’s so it will be quite the transition for us since we travel a lot… but totally worth it to keep tony happy and healthy!
I look forward to learning and eventually contributing in this forum!
