Newly diagnosed, can't seem to bear insulin- stopps eating

Hi Gina
Besides making a line on your spreadsheet above the date you started Lantus ,Put started Lantus , also on your signature you need to add Started Lantus and the date so members are aware of this :cat: What date did you start lantus
Would you like me to tag one of our members to do this for you, in case you don't know how to do it?

I' m thinking starting Lantus tomorrow. (I think i 'll start with 0,5u because i 'm not home all the time and i' m scared of how she will react.) I improvised on Polly's spreadsheet (drew a red line , wrote change to Lantus)- is it ok?

Τhank you for your help! All these are new to me, so confusing and stressing (plus the worry for Polly..):confused:. It 's great to know that someone else out there, cares!

Gina if you are going to drop back to 0.5 units you are running the risk of ketones forming because diabetic cats need insulin and food to stop ketones from forming. The 1.5 of caninsulin did not drop Polly low so it’s very unlikely that 1 unit of Lantus would do so.
If you are going to go back to 0.5 units, which I don’t think is a good idea, please test the urine every day for ketones. To do this you need a bottle of Ketostix or Keto diastolic which can be bought from a pharmacy. Even if no ketones have been seen before I would still check for them daily if you are going to drop the dose right back.

I found the UK food list which you saw already, and I see the Animonda Integra renal on it, looks like the carbs are 7% which is OK
Does Polly have kidney issues?

To add the food LC wet you can just erase where you have years old and just put 17 yrs and erase the word September and just put 9/2022 you should then be able to add LC Wet :cat:

Thank you. No, no kidney issues but she eats either that or Animonda carny senior and no other low carb foods. So I give her one or the other. :cat:
