Hi! My name is Denise and my newly diagnosed diabetic cat is KiKi, diagnosed almost two months ago. She's only ten years old. I originally took her in for diarrhea that wouldn't go away. They tested her stool and did blood work. The vet said she had roundworm. I don't know how she got that as she's never been outside. None of my cats go out. So they gave her two treatments of dewormer two weeks apart. Plus an antibiotic and anti diarrhea med. They then told me she also had diabetes. I was devastated. And angry. And wanting to cry. So now I'm trying to deal with a diabetic cat with a bowel issue who's not regulated yet.

Hello and welcome. Sorry to hear about the complicated situation.

What antibiotic and anti diarrhea med is she on? I really like the s, boulardii probiotic for diarrhea. What food is she normally eating? If a higher carb food, switching to a low carb food can really help. Or it's possible she has a food allergy and a different protein would help.

Is your kitty on insulin now? If so, which one?

I'm curious: did the dewormer clear up the diarrhea?

Also, FWIW Jude (nor any of my cats) is not an outside cat either, but he also developed worms--I noticed them one day in his poop I asked the vet why/how could this happen. He said that I could have brought a flea into the house. We do have outside feral cats, so maybe they are in the yard, and one hopped on me? Another time, Jude came down with this FUNKY and awful infection that the vet said he only ever sees in outside cats. Again, I asked why/how. He said I could have tracked it in on my shoes coming into the house
