but not a new person. I joined FDMB back in 2007 when I adopted a diabetic cat from the vet clinic I worked in. I wasn't very active but learned so much that helped me take care of Woody. Woody passed away this spring and I decided to honor him by adopting another diabetic cat.
Minuit came at the end of July and she has been a little bit of a challenge. She has a lot of attitude and doesn't like to be touched so testing has been a struggle. She did make the switch to canned food very easily and when I was finally able to get a BG, she tested normal. She's slowly losing some much needed weight so hopefully we will be lucky and be able to stayed diet controlled. Because of the difficulty in testing her, I was interested opinions on doing fructosamine or glycosylated hemoglobin periodically to make sure she stays normal.
I am also going to be adding Poughkeepsie, a 10 year old Ragdoll to my family this weekend. Woody was a Ragdoll and I fell in love with the breed so I'm looking forward to meeting Poughkeepsie. He's on Lantus so I am going to be reading up on using it since Woody was on BCP PZI. It sounds like his treatment wasn't ideal so I will be here getting some help to get him regulated.
