Normally you wouldn't be testing quite this much! ;)

Reports on here for Libre tend to fit this summary:

    * They are designed to only work for a fortnight, therefore need to be replaced regularly. There's the cost of the devices to consider and, presumably, vet fees for placing them.
    * Sometimes they stop working before the 14 days are up.
    * It can be difficult to keep the Libre device attached to the cat.
    * When they do work, they apparently give good data.
    * You'd still need to have a handheld meter in case the Libre stopped working or came off.

FWIW, things aren't normally quite this hectic with feline diabetics. :D

Fingers and paws crossed things will settle down.

it's okay that it's so high now?

i accidentally pricked the vein directly so it was a lot of blood but it stopped quickly. i'm having a lot of trouble using the device now, not getting blood and i feel terrible after 3-4 tries. So i'm using without device now but am scared because I ripped his ear a little when I first started testing 2 weeks ago. But I think i'm okay without the device and don't want to move him to go to the vet today if i can avoid.

What should my mom buy while she's here?

Sorry my spreadsheet is ugly again after this morning's shot delay. trying to put everything in the notes section.

Is it normal to go through these episodes in the beginning?
He was diagnosed on 9/1/20 but I'm not sure how long he really had it. My family is in the boat of "he's suffering and this is no way to live" so they will disagree with me but said they'll still be here to support for my sake. My thinking is that I need to at least try to get over the beginning hump before resorting to the extreme. I told them it's not like I hadn't thought about the possibility that I would need to putting him to sleep, but it's my absolute LAST resort and I must at least try to do this. I don't need to convince my family since I'm paying for everything, doing all the shots myself, etc. but I do want to know that I'm doing right by him

I never used a lancing device. My vet taught me to test with a needle freehand. I bought the very sharp terumo ones on line and never didn’t get blood on the first prick. I’ll see about a list of things to buy.
This condo is so long. Would you start a new one and link this to it please?

You are seeing a bounce from the hc and low bg. Some cats register hi. It will come down.

    For today's shopping list:

    * Definitely get more test strips for the human meter you're now using.

Ideally, keep 3 pods in the house

    * Pod 1: Currently in use:
    * Pod 2: Open when pod 1 is finished. Order a new pod when you open this one.
    * Pod 3: For use in emergencies (like last night).

Date rotate the pods so they don't expire (pod 2 becomes pod 1, pod 3 becomes pod 2, new pod becomes pod three).

    Other things for the list:
    .
    * Check that you've got enough lancets and ketone strips.
    * Check that you have enough honey/karo.

Also, foods for your hypo toolkit (suggest a couple of cans of each):

    * Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Gourmet Beef Feast in Gravy / 20% High Carbs
    * Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Gourmet Chicken Feast in Gravy. / 15% Med Carbs
    * Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Turkey Feast in Gravy. / 15% Med Carbs
    * Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Chicken and Beef Feast in Gravy / 15% Med Carbs
    * Temptations Treats

    ETA:

    * Neosporin OINTMENT with pain relief, or Vaseline, for Kitty Cat's ears.

    ALSO:

    * Something nice for you, your mom, and your grandma. :)
