Two months ago our 9 year old cat Purrrty was diagnosed with Diabetes. I was so scared.. giving those injections was scary.. I still get scared and sometimes Purrrty cries or growls at me. She has always been a solitary cat but in the past year or so its gotten so she hides all the time.. She comes to me in the am for her shot as she has them twice a day but the evening one we have to go get her. We suscpected nothing.. Never having that problem before we did not know what to look for. We have another cat Cocoa who is almost 10. she is the opposite of Purrrty, outgoing and loves attention and food.. As for us well we are an elderly couple that live on the west coast of Canada on an Island. Mostly wet and gloomy here.I will post a picture of Purrrty soon.. thanks for letting me join..

Hi Sandra and Purrrty and welcome to the forum. :)
I’m looking forward to seeing a photo of Purrrty!
Can you tell us a bit about her please?
What insulin and dose are you giving?
What food are you feeding her?
Are you giving snacks of food during the cycles as well as the Preshot meal?
Does she have any other health problems?

agreed Dickson, 67 may have been elderly at one time but in 2022, 67 is the new 47! Or something. :p

@Sandra Wosk welcome to the club and I'm glad you made it here.

Good news is, with the expert help of the people here at the FDMB you can get Purrty back to normal. It will take time, possibly weeks or months so patience is key.

@Sandra Wosk

Be sure to click the 'Save Changes' button at the bottom. If you need help urgently it is important we know these things at a glance. We don’t want to waste valuable time finding out information.

Take a look at mine

Are you home testing?
We have a spreadsheet we use to track our cats BG numbers to see how the insulin is working and how low they are dropping in case you need dosing advice
That will tell you if an increase or decrease is needed
Here are the instructions for setting up your spresdsheet if you have trouble with it let us know we have a wonderful member that will do it for you
It will also explain how the spreadsheet works
