Needle Might Have Touched Tablecloth Before Injection. Help

After drawing up amount needed my cat started to walk away and I picked him up with the syringe in my hand. I was extremely careful but now I am thinking that the needle might have accidently touched tablecloth before injection.
I am always careful but what could happen if that did happen. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

Done's done, right? If it did touch the tablecloth, unless there was a big pile of nasty right there, you're probably all right. And even if there were a big pile of nasty, the only thing to do is wait and see.

Clean the area with some alcohol, and watch for a small, hard, hot lump at the site of injection. That would indicate infection, abscess, or something along those lines. I'd shoot at an alternate site for a few cycles to be sure that I'm able to spot an issue if it arises, but other than that, meh, done's done and it's a wait and see thing.

I've done that a few times too...and nothing bad has come from it. You'll be all right, and so will your fuzzbuddy.

Thanks for the good advice. I will inject him on his other side for a few days and just wait and see.

gosh, when i think of how many things my needles have touched before entering tom...including accidently poking myself! i think that considering we don't apply alcohol to the skin and shoot thru potentially dirty fur that cats are more resilient to the bacteria that we humans cannot tolerate (perhaps becuase we've always been so sterile) i mean tom eats seriously raw rabbit, mice, birds and enjoys chewing on but not eatting lizards.. :? not happy about it but i don't think the same level of medical sterility is required.

I'm with Lori.... Charlie survived a few less than perfectly sterile injections.... We try our best, but there are certainly worse things than a tablecloth... Relax mom, watch the area...(I'd never be able to find it on Charlie as his fur was so very thick)... He made it to 18, 7 on insulin twice aday... I'd boil everything if I could have him back for more.
