Hi all,
Sorry I've not been around, as many of you know Pippi (our dog) was recently diagnosed with an aggressive cancer.
We put her to sleep early this afternoon. She went very peacefully at home, the sun even came out for our sweet girl. The downside to putting them to sleep before they're really suffering is you're always second guessing the decision. Did she have one more "good" week left? Two? Ultimately I know it was the right decision as her quality of life was severely diminished, and she wouldn't/couldn't do anything she enjoyed like walks, sleeping in her recliner, or laying outside with the kids in the sunshine. But we were able to give her a really good last few days and I'm forever thankful for it.
So why a GA post about a dog you may ask? Mr Kitty, the reason I'm even here on this forum to begin with, was essentially an emotional support animal we got for Pippi
She was also a rescue with severe separation anxiety, and our apartment at the time would not allow two dogs - but they did allow one dog and one cat.
So, throw out a wave to miss Pippi up there for us!
