Hi all,

Sorry I've not been around, as many of you know Pippi (our dog) was recently diagnosed with an aggressive cancer.

We put her to sleep early this afternoon. She went very peacefully at home, the sun even came out for our sweet girl. The downside to putting them to sleep before they're really suffering is you're always second guessing the decision. Did she have one more "good" week left? Two? Ultimately I know it was the right decision as her quality of life was severely diminished, and she wouldn't/couldn't do anything she enjoyed like walks, sleeping in her recliner, or laying outside with the kids in the sunshine. But we were able to give her a really good last few days and I'm forever thankful for it.

So why a GA post about a dog you may ask? Mr Kitty, the reason I'm even here on this forum to begin with, was essentially an emotional support animal we got for Pippi  She was also a rescue with severe separation anxiety, and our apartment at the time would not allow two dogs - but they did allow one dog and one cat.

So, throw out a wave to miss Pippi up there for us!

I am sorry to hear about Pippi. It is never easy to make the decision to let our pets go but the greatest gift to them is to keep them from suffering. I know you are hurting right now and I hope your memories of Pippi brings you some peace and comfort.

Fly free sweet Pippi and watch over everyone who loves you.

I’m so sorry about Pippi, Melissa. I know you did your best to give Pippi a wonderful life. Please know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.:bighug:

Dogs have always been a part of our cat family, of any family. Pippi deserves just as much space as anyone else.
You made the right call, Pippi knows that, we all know that.
Safe journey sweet Pippi :bighug: :bighug: :bighug:

I am so sorry about Pippi.
Don't second guess yourself. You did what you thought was right for her at that time and I am sure it was the right decision.
I think we all fall into the second guessing trap when we have to make that heart breaking decision to help a beloved pet across the rainbow bridge.

I'm sorry that you had to let Pippi go, it is always hard to come to that decision.

I will be thinking of you and your family as you grieve the loss. :bighug:

Hi Melissa I'm so sorry for your loss, When they have no quality of life and can't do the things that they loved to do it's heartbreaking, don't ever second guess yourself
Pippi knew that you all lived her like crazy and she's no longer in pain
Please take care of yourself ,we miss you :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

So sorry for your sweet Pippi. You did the right thing; when there is nothing more to do, we have to let them go....
