Yesterday I had to take Musette back into the hospital for another extended stay. But this time she is with her regular vet as I wasn't at all pleased of the way both she and I were treated at the ER vet. (long story). I took her back in because right after we got home from her recheck at the ER vet she literally took a downward spiral, to the point that I really was beginning to question if she was just giving up and done with the fight.
She was laying flat on her side, mouth open and eyes just staring off into space. She wouldn't even acknowledge the sound of my voice, it scared me to death. So after speaking, okay bawling to Venita we agreed to take her back to my regular vet and have them rerun her bloodwork and do some xrays to see if they could get her back on the right track. At thos point I haven't gotten any real news from my vet but will be calling them later in the day to see what they have figured out...but when Dr. Rick went over the labs and records from the ER vet he is as confused as I am about why Musette crashed like she did...He doesn't believe that she was in DKA, pancreatis yes, DKA no...but exactly what is causing her not to eat on her own and what is going on with her liver we won't know until the new bloodwork is back in.
So for now she is back in the hospital for an extended stay, they have her hooked back up to IVs and are trying to get her stable enough to come home again. But just seeing the difference in how she responded to Dr. Rick as opposed to the ER Vet makes me believe she is absolutely where she needs to be right now...With the ER vet on her recheck she was growling and trying to bite at him, which is completely unlike my sweet Musette. Yesterday with Dr. Rick as weak as she was she was trying to stand and rub against his hand and even gave him a very weak little normal purr. She felt safe with him where she was clearly terrified of the ER vet.
