Mugs is doing well although he is still sore between his front legs and his head wound seems to have a slight swelling (I'm checking it for possible draining). He's still on AB, which should help. Hopefully in a day or two we can begin the Lantus and testing. He wants loving and snuggling again, which is great. He got spoiled while he was sick and now picks at his food. He had roast pork and people tuna now, his own food seems boring, I guess.

I haven't heard from Dixie, so no new updates on Jake. Last word was he was doing well on the Levemir. I will be glad when her husband returns home from his business trip so that they can read the information I sent them and check out this site. Poor Dixie just can't work the computer.

cat(2)_steam Well, it was a slow fill but, we're draining his head wound again. I may have to call the vet if it doesn't dry up. Needless to say, Mugs isn't pleased at me draining it but, he will feel better after the fact.

What is draining out? A sort of clear reddish liquid or does it look like puss (white blood cells)? Are you periodically cleaning it?

Pus...I am dealing with a stubborn abscessed wound (probably a bite). I picked up another week's worth of antibiotic this morning and am keeping the wound drained and flushed. He's not happy, of course, because it hurts when it builds up, when I drain and flush, and probably for a while after. Then there's having the medicine squirted into his throat twice a day. I've been through this before with a dog (same place strangely enough) who managed to get a grass seed behind her eyeball that somehow abscessed out her temple. Same treatment. Uhgggg!
