Hello LL friends.
The last time I posted was July 26th http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=20777 and it's been one heck of a ride since then. So much was happening that I just didn't have time to post anything. House was torn apart with painting and laying a new floor, some medical issues arose that needed addressing and a friend tried to commit suicide....needless to say, posting was the last thing on my mind. But we're back.
In a nutshell, Meadow has been pretty stable since she got out of the hospital. She has been weaned off the pred and is back on Flovent. Wouldn't you know she has had 3 small asthma episodes since coming off the pred! But we aren't giving in and I hope that the Flovent will handle things. She's been quite energetic of late and was tossing some fur mice around on the new floor the past 2 days. She's been a bit more vocal than normal. Don't know why. Her appetite has been very good. The only glitch was this past Sunday. She had a very bad time during Saturday night with vomiting and although Sunday was a bit better, she still vomited whatever she ate. I was giving her fluids and meds just to get her through Sunday so we could go to my regular vet on Monday but she woke up Monday morning as if nothing was ever wrong and has been fine since.
Both the internist and my own vet recommended getting the AlphaTrak meter so we could get more precise readings. That came in the mail on Weds afternoon, so we started using it with the Weds PMPS reading. I used both meters at the same time for a couple of days to get a sense of the difference in the readings and my vet was right.....the Relion consistently gave readings 50-60 points lower than what they actually were. So now we are only using the AlphaTrak for a while. Tried to reflect that on the spreadsheet. We also somehow got off the 7/7 cycle because the internist advised no insulin at certain levels, but we are now back on the 7/7 split and hopefully can get things more under control now that she is off the pred and my life has settled down. Today has been a bad number day. I sat with her before and just cried. I feel like I am fighting a losing battle. ohmygod_smile But we'll trudge on.....
