Hello LL friends.

The last time I posted was July 26th http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=20777 and it's been one heck of a ride since then. So much was happening that I just didn't have time to post anything. House was torn apart with painting and laying a new floor, some medical issues arose that needed addressing and a friend tried to commit suicide....needless to say, posting was the last thing on my mind. But we're back.

In a nutshell, Meadow has been pretty stable since she got out of the hospital. She has been weaned off the pred and is back on Flovent. Wouldn't you know she has had 3 small asthma episodes since coming off the pred! But we aren't giving in and I hope that the Flovent will handle things. She's been quite energetic of late and was tossing some fur mice around on the new floor the past 2 days. She's been a bit more vocal than normal. Don't know why. Her appetite has been very good. The only glitch was this past Sunday. She had a very bad time during Saturday night with vomiting and although Sunday was a bit better, she still vomited whatever she ate. I was giving her fluids and meds just to get her through Sunday so we could go to my regular vet on Monday but she woke up Monday morning as if nothing was ever wrong and has been fine since.

Both the internist and my own vet recommended getting the AlphaTrak meter so we could get more precise readings. That came in the mail on Weds afternoon, so we started using it with the Weds PMPS reading. I used both meters at the same time for a couple of days to get a sense of the difference in the readings and my vet was right.....the Relion consistently gave readings 50-60 points lower than what they actually were. So now we are only using the AlphaTrak for a while. Tried to reflect that on the spreadsheet. We also somehow got off the 7/7 cycle because the internist advised no insulin at certain levels, but we are now back on the 7/7 split and hopefully can get things more under control now that she is off the pred and my life has settled down. Today has been a bad number day. I sat with her before and just cried. I feel like I am fighting a losing battle. ohmygod_smile But we'll trudge on.....

Oh Dottie things will get better .So sorry you had to have a good cry but sometimes we have to destress and a few good tears helps..Sending lots of healing green light and Angels to help you and Meadow through this ((((((((((((Dottie& Meadow)))))))) have a great day tomorrow think of it as a brand new start House is back together and things will be better now!!! My prayers and thought are with you Kath

well sometimes a good cry is all we need to get through the day and trust me, I have shed lots of tears while dealing with mochas diabetes! Im sorry to hear meadow was not feeling good for awhile, but glad to hear she is feeling better these days ... I hope good numbers are coming soon for you guys ... have a great day!

I am glad that you are back - I had wondered where you were and what was up. I am so sorry for the sad events that have transpired. It is good to see you out there in LL again.

Cry all you can - I have been there too. At times this is just so overwhelming, results are so mixed, and yes - it sure does seem like we are fighting a loosing battle. All on can do is keep on fighting. Eventually it all comes together. I am sure it will with Meadow too. I know with Mannie that we have really bad days, some awesome ones. I keep reminding myself that the awesome days are what we are shooting for, the bad days help us get there. Hang in there!

I am glad that Meadow is feeling better! That is great. Today we work for better numbers. You can do it Meadow!

Good to see you again! Hugs... :YMHUG: that was a bad spell for you...but it's in the past now....
I guess I am fooling myself with my Reli-On, huh? I know your test strips are going to be expensive though...
keep thinking of the difference in points though and you will get used to it.
Glad that pretty Meadow is feeling better now. That must have been scary when she was getting sick like that.
So happy to read that she woke up the next day as if nothing had happened! :-D
Give her a kiss from us....so happy you're back!

It is interesting to see how the Relion meter is consistently lower than the alphatrak. But if you look at it keeping in mind the 20% variance all meters have, most of the values are within range believe it or not  So a number of 300 could really be + or - 60 points.

I am very glad to hear that things are starting to quiet down now for you. Sounds like you had quite an ordeal to go through there for a while!

So happy to see you back and I hope Meadow settles into good numbers soon. It is so hard when there are other problems involved. So cry all you want, it will do you good. We all understand.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome back, you guys. We're having an interesting low number day today. Will start a new condo now. Just wanted to say thanks and I appreciate the support.
