Monique & Spooky

Very Active Member
So we are a day late for "old timers" but I wanted to tell about Spooky's eating habits. After spending over a year to get him off the kitty crack things are going well. Now I can get him to eat almost anything and have to stop him from eating everything! For a long time he was pretty picky and only ate one or two types of food but now he eats almost anything I put down (eventually). This morning I served the Sunday special, a can of expensive all meat cat food (human quality) called Almo Nature. Spooky had chicken (all white meat) with cocktail shrimps, Socks had beef with quail egg  I had coffee and a 2 day old peice of bread  Both enjoyed it. For lunch they split a dish of thier usual pate style food (duck and rabbit I think). Spooky then finished the fat I cut off my pork chop and left on my plate barbeque sauce inclusive. He then ate a few bites of backed potato which Hannah left on her plate sitting on the coffee table, and then he went onto the counter top and licked the butter out of an empty bowl that had carrots in it ohmygod_smile For dinner I gave him a pouch of Felix-as good as it looks (poultry) which he hasn't had in months. As usual when it's something "new" he is uncertain so he goes to the dish then comes to me and wines, then back to the dish (as I push him towards it) he does a 180° and comes towards the diningroom chairs (old-timers know what that means  ) I panic and toss 3 peices of dry food on top of his dish, he runs over and picks them off placing them on the floor and eating each one, then sniffs the food in the bowl and starts eating it. He just finished and has come into the computer to see what I am writing about him. Tell him it's all good!

He is bugging me for cake cause next week is his birthday and he will be 5 years old, Socks also has a birthday (we celebrate at the same time, as both are spring kittens) which always come after the first round of hay mowing end of May. Socks will be 6 this year.

I tested Spooky last week (hadn't done it in many weeks) got an error on the meter for the fist time in years! He was so bad, he ran away from flicked the blood drop so I couldn't get enough. After I got a new strip and fetched the cat from under the couch, I pinned him down and got a big 'ol drop, he tested 67. Then I fed him and all was good again.

The weather has finally improved here (thought spring would never happen) so he looks forward to going out on the leash to harass the dogs and dig holes under the rose bush (and lead me around the yard) eat some grass then come in the house and puke on the carpet (the only one in the house with all tile floors) then take a nap.
Spooky's favorite saying:
"Dogs have masters, cat's have staff." Have a good day everyone!

PS Toilet business is still going good! Makes like so much easier. My favorite picture of Socks

 You had a piece of two day old bread while your kitties feasted like King Ludwig? :o
What is wrong with this picture? That Spooky is a handful...he is soooo funny...and he keeps you busy. You certainly have his habits down to a science! Amazing about the dried pieces and the way he eats...laughing so much at your description! You are so funny Monique!!

I hope to be seeing your boys at the Full Flower Moon Party on Thursday....I love it when they ask for the bathroom and all the kitties get soooo curious when they go in there to use the toilet! It is really a big hit at all the parties! Most of the kitties didn't know that a trick like that was even pissible!! I mean, POSSible! I wish they could give lessons while they are here....

So glad that Spring is there finally....will you stop your *****ing now? You really should leave town for the winter so we could have a break from the complaining you do...LOL...only kidding Monique! But she DOES complain a lot, doesn't she everyone?

I will tell Stu that we need a nice birthday cake for your boys on Thursday night. Everyone just LOVES singing Happy Birthday and it will be great to celebrate with them....it's great that they share their special day with each other!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about your boy...you two must be such a kick to watch....sounds like a lot of fun!!

And I thought I had the challenge with food. You take the prize, that's fer sure!

And yes, love that potty pic! If only I could teach my girls to go that way, and wipe, flush, etc.

Do they flush, too?? Hi Monique! Wonderful report on Spooky. He and Socks are lucky kitties to have you for their mamabean. We'll certainly celebrate their birthdays at the Full Flower Moon party. Stu's going to bake a birthday cake.

Glad to hear that spring has sprung in your part of the world.

Ella & Stu

Oh no, not the dining room chairs!!! Glad to hear how well Spooky is doing, he's a character... just like his momma-bean!

Oh I know I complain about the weather! I hate cold so much, my disease is very sensitive to the cold (I severe Raynaud's syndrome) and I have lost a toe because of cold. Normally the climate here isn't so bad, we have 4 seasons (Ski season, Handgliding season, Swimming season, and Football season :-D ) I plan someday when my daughter is done school I'm going to have a little summer apartment somewhere warm for the winter (southern Italy, Spain, Moracco..) It's only a 6 hour drive from here to say Sicily. Anyway after all the crying this spring cause it was sooo cold and rainy......today was gourgeous and I was outside alot.....Now I'm red like a tomato! I don't even care I love it! Now it's midnight and I've cooled my burning nose enough to go to bed.

A little nervous though, Spooky has been at the water bowl 3 times this evening (usually it is never even touched) and he is hiding under the couch (well sleeping, he comes if I call him) this is unusual. Could it be because he is warm? I thought cats loved heat (like I do, I could lay in a sunbeam all day while wearing a black fleece suit :-D ) never to warm for me!

I had one kitty who would lay in the sun and the other on the tile in front of the air conditioning vent. ECID! I hope all is good with Spooky.

Monique,

Thanks for the picturesque story. I can just imagine from your words. That is such a great feat that Spooky will eat anything, now. I hope he is feeling fine, tomorrow. And the drinking water and hiding were nothing..

Mainly, I just wanted to say thanks for all that you contribute to this board .. Sometimes, you're a Godsend. Thanks! :-D

I love your stories Monique! I would really like to see a picture of Spooky punishing your chairs.

PS - If you get a summer apartment in Italy, can I visit?

Thanks guys,

I don't know what's going on.....This morning (Monday) it's a holiday here (who knows what Pfingsten is? :-D ) anyway I had been to the pet food store and bought a variety of some foods (special for Sundays) and few things that either Spooky hasn't had for a while and I found one new thing which I must tell Maira about (& Suzie) if they have it in Belgium. Anyway Spooky had a can of Miamor turkey for breakfast which is almost the same as the Gormet Gold (Fancy Feast) except I like it better, same price but better quality (way more meat). It was one of the first canned foods (other than tuna) that I got him to eat in the beginning. After putting the dish down he again wasn't satisfied with the offer and whined at me and kept wandering from dish to me and towards the dining room. 3 peices dry food on top which ate then ate some of the wet food, but he kept leaving the dish and circling the kitchen. He didn't finish but went straight to the water dish and drank about 1/3 of it! I don't feel compelled to test him (maybe I'm afraid of what I'll get :o ) I mean 5 days ago he was at 67 so I doubt anything happened that quickly. Also his appitite is nothing like it was when he was Dx'd (crying all the time and eating) I haven't noticed any PU either. I'm gonna check out his teeth today (maybe he has something in there that bothers when eating, and tastes bad so he drinks?) I'll test him later too I guess.

Socks did a scarf and barf this morning, he did re-eat it so no waste

For any Euro Beans here the new food I found is the "house brand" from the pet food store chain called Fressnapf. It is called Fit & Fun (theres a pate and a jelly style) comes in cans (195g) costs €0,35 each and says No Grain (has a picture on the front with wheat in a "no smoking" like symbol) Ingredients are: Meat, Meat by-products, Minerals, Vitamins, water. It says no artifical colors, flavors, and no preseratives. Grain -free complete adult cat food. I'll try to find a picture of it later.

Maybe poor a Spooky just has an upset stomach for some reason. That could make him want to drink more. And might explain the food reaction. Otherwise, He sounds great! I'm jealous of that 67!

I absolutely loved that descriptive post about Spooky and Socks!! I could picture him whining and eating the dry pieces. Great storytelling, Monique! :) But you need to eat something better than 2 day old bread, especially with the feline spread fit for a king going on over there! That reminded me of something Pat would do.

Congrats on life at the falls! I do think you are getting the short end of the stick at breakfast tho! But kitties can't have bread, so i guess it's for the beans! Snuggles to Spooky!
