I almost forgot! I don't know exactly which day in May he was born, but the middle of the month is about 6 weeks before I got him in July of 1993. So I picked May 15th.

That first summer he was diabetic if you had told me he would still be here and doing OK at 17 years old, I would have been floored. I know he would not be here today if it wasn't for FDMB. I'm not even sure who helped us in the beginning, Pamela and Tigger was the first person to PM me. So thank you, Pamela!

You are welcome and Happy Birthday Gandalf! And since we are going down memory lane here is that PM (I know Vicky wouldn't care if I shared it). It is funny what she says there at the end of her post, "Don't know that we will ever stop learning how to manage diabetes". Isn't that the truth even after all these years?

Hi Vicky - I answered your post today. Been really busy at home lately so haven't been online much. Please update us on the Health board when you can. And no, you never stop learning with this disease. I learn something new everyday as do a lot of the veterans that have been doing this for longer than me. I wish I knew then what I Know now. I took too long to make changes, but we are still plugging along. Tigger is doing great. He is healthy and runs and plays like a normal kitty. Keep us updated. Pamela and Tigger (and you are welcome)

Happy Belated Birthday Galdalf! Hello everyone... thought I would check in. As usual, it's been awhile but there really isn't anything new going on here. I think Poppy will forever go up and down. I've tried just about everything. He will be 15 in October and has been diabetic since he was 9, so regardless of the bg irregularity he is doing pretty well. :)

Hi Heather! Tigger is fifteen this year too! Nice to see you and to hear Poppy is hanging in there and doing well. :)

Don't be such a stranger!

Thanks everyone! Heather, glad to hear you're doing well with Poppy. I have the same perspective. After 5 years Gandalf is doing as well as should be expected and I can't ask for more than that.

Pamela, that PM just about sums it up for all of us, doesn't it? Wow, thanks for sharing that. No, I don't mind at all!
