Thank you everyone. I really appreciate all the outpouring of warmth, love and condolences. It's so hard to put into words what one feels at a time like this. I know many of you have had to say goodbye to your furbabies too.
There never seems to be the right thing to say or do, because honestly there is nothing that can be said or done. It's done, it's over and as my dear friend Caryl put it, all we want is our babies back in our arms and homes. The one thing that we cannot ever have again.
Losing a loved one, whether sudden like Maui or prolonged is not easy. There is no easy, no pretty, no peace. One just needs to learn to live with the void and know deep down that the right decision was made (not for me, but for her). And while my heart is shattered, I will pick up the pieces and carry on.
Remembering Maui's adventures and those of many LL kitties is how I will honor her. In true Maui fashion, I found an old posting that sums of the life and fun of Maui the Magnificent. Now for your reading pleasure, sure to bring a smile, chuckle, maybe even a snortle - an oldie but a goodie.....
Good morning, this is your favorite Roving Reporter Alphabean coming to you live from the deck of Maui’s beautiful condo at the Falls.
I know you must have missed me, however, when Maui left for the Falls, well I wanted to take a vacation, I went there too. Let me tell you, my first days were wonderful. Maui and I lounged around, met the neighbors and had some great feasts. Then, Maui got word that her valet/cabana boy/butler, Spot was not yet ready to take up his post. In addition, Maui put me, your Roving Reporter Alphabean to work filling Spot’s job.
My vacation quickly ended and I have become Maui’s servant for the past month. I finally told her that is enough, I am going back to my real job and Maui kicked me out of her condo. She said, if I do not work, I could not stay.
Therefore, I am now standing outside her condo in the rain, without an umbrella. Maui is watching me from the comfort of her bed and I see her snickering behind her paws.
Uhh, Alphabean. This is the Studio, don’t you have a report to give. We want to hear about Maui and what she’s been up to.
OK, fine Studio. Alright folks. Today, June 12 is Maui’s official one month OTJ!
Maui has been one busy kitty, she’s planted her nip and secret herb garden, changed the ballet – you all remember the ballet she was producing – Dance of the Fancy Felines? Well the ballet is now becoming a musical play. Rehearsals are still in progress and there have been some casting changes, from what I have seen, it looks great.
Maui herself has gained back the 3 pounds she lost, her fur is rich and thick and oh so soft (she won’t let me touch, unless I groom her – again Spot’s job not mine). She still eats like a pig (I am sorry if any of the audience are pigs) but she is a bit of a piggy. She eats her breakfast and then will eat anyone else’s that she sees. Maui hasn’t itched in months. Do you all remember the embarrassment she suffered at the paws of that Spot impostor? Well for those of you who may not remember, Maui had explosive diarrhea and made all kinds of horrible bathroom noises.
I am happy to report that since coming to the Falls, no more explosions from Maui’s butt or noises. She has had an occasional bout of loose poo, it either resolved itself quickly or she pulled some slippery elm from her secret garden and that did the trick.
Maui spends a lot of time lounging on her deck chair enjoying the warm weather and sunshine. She hissed and hit Mr. Luigi a 9-month-old Boxer who dared to attempt to befriend her. Mr. Luigi went away very sad indeed. He watches her from afar and hopes that one day they can be friends.
Maui has her energy back, pep in her step and big bright eyes that are focused and understand everything that is going on around here.
She did tell me, before she kicked me out that, she is deeply saddened by the felines who did not make it to the Falls and instead went to Rainbow Bridge. She knows that they are where they need to be and wanted me to tell the mom and dad beans not to be sad. Instead, she wants them to be happy and celebrate their lives.
ALPHA! ALPHA! This is Maui. I want to know why you are standing on my deck in the rain talking about me. Do you not remember the confidentiality agreement you signed? I called the Feline Patrol and General Noisy and President Pelusa are on their way over here right now to talk to you.
Nevertheless, Maui, I am only telling your fans about how you spent this past month. I did not betray your confidences. OK, maybe just a bit, by bringing up the poopy report, but hey I’m a reporter and that’s what I do – report the news. The good, the bad and the smelly!
Fine, then I want to talk to my fans.
Hello everyone, this is Magnificent, Mahvellous Maui. I want you to know, I feel great! I look great! Moreover, I am great! Enough said. Now, who is ready for a party!
Oh Alpha, while you are standing there, please bring me a niptini and some turkey mole! Oh and make sure the chips are fresh and crisp. Not soggy like last time.
Yes, your Magnificence. Folks this is your Roving Reporter Alphabean still Maui’s servant – Spot hurry it up and take your job back. Now back to you in the studio.
