Was your 109 12 hours after the last shot or 13- since you shot early last night? If it was 12 or 13 hours later, then yes, it suggests either the dose is a little high and/or some pancreatic action. I think waiting until tonight is fine. But I would post here and on PZI and ask for advice on the dose amount.
I would think a dose reduction is probably a good idea. Just remember, tonight will probably be a high number because she will have been 24 hours since the last shot. But you are shooting based on the previous cycle, which suggested the dose was too high when you got an unshootable amps.
The reason she went up to 303 is because, at that point, she had used up all the insulin and was a couple hours without any. When the pancreas starts to "wake up", it may help out for a cycle with a lower amps and then it peters out. It doesn't seem to be an matter of the pancreas starting to help and then continually being there. (I know there is a scientific explanation for this process. Maybe someone else will help with that.) The PZI group calls the pancreas a "visitor" and they all try to make him welcome.
Here is the PZI forum:
http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewforum.php?f=24 Just post there like you do here with a short intro. It is a much smaller forum than Health so you may have to post and then come back later for an answer. But everyone there uses or has used your insulin, so they can give you good info based on their experiences. If you ever have an emergency, post here as you will attract more eyes.
I know this is overwhelming. One of the reasons is that you are lucky enough to have a kitty that is responding very well to the insulin. (Some people give the same dose for days and get the same numbers and then increase and the cycle continues.) You have had to adjust daily to a different dose and carefully watch the numbers. The good news is that Lucy is going down in doses and in numbers. Challenging, but very encouraging.
