Very nice, look at Loki go. I havn't read any other posts but looking at your ss it looks like Loki is doing excellent!

Any change in diet can cause diarrhea, you could try some FortiFlora and sprinkle it on his food, it is a probiotic. You can get it either online or from your vet to see if that helps him. If it doesn't clear up in a few days you could look at switching to a grain free, gluten free food as it could be allergies to the wheat.

Count me in as another that hasn't followed Loki, but it appears he is doing Great!

I also wanted to say Welcome to PZI!

I use to have a three legged cat....I had to amputate her leg due to an injury. She was a sweety! After her surgery, I changed her name to Tripod. I loved her a lot.

I have had some problems with my cats and the "better foods"
I find that they do best on the fancy feast, but that is my group...
I understand about the mess though!
Hate when that happnes!

Loki's numbers look very good!
When switching to a different food, I always did it gradually. mixing the old food and new food, increasing the new food a little more each day until they get used to it.
Sometimes that helps.
Loki is very cute!

Thanks, we are trying. I am really hopeful that I will be able to get him close or to the point of it being controlled by diet.

For those wondering, Loki had his leg amputated in March of 2010 as a result of cancer. He developed a lump on his right rear leg that was biopsied and found to be chondrosarcoma. He actually adjusted quite well. His nickname since then is "stumpy". In part because he has a stump where his leg used to be, in part because of the way he lumps around the house. My sister has taken to calling him "Loki loki sh*t foot" over the past few days, lol.

I tried feeding a can of Friskies (I think it was a pate variety of chicken), but it made one of my other cats vomit. On my couch of course....I have cleaned it 3 times, but my dog is letting me know it still smells by rubbing her face all over that part of the couch. :roll: It's always something, lol.

PS - Loki's +6 today was 100, pretty darn good! :smile:

So happy to see that Loki is doing so well in such a short period of time. Sorry to hear about the diarrhea problems. Bob and a lot of other kitties had the opposite trouble when going to an all-canned diet. But your sister? Loki, you might want to think about going poo in her shoe!

Although it might not seem to be doing anything, the insulin IS working on Loki. Hard to see with just 2 tests a day, but when you do the curve this weekend, you'll see how his BG goes down about 5-6 hours after the shot, and then starts to climb back up. And that is when you will start to see things start to make a bit more sense. This is a marathon, not a sprint. You will get frustrated (we all did) and don't let that get you down. Everybody says this, and every new person is told this - this DOES get easier. And it won't take forever before you realize "hey yeah, this isn't as bad as I thought a couple weeks ago..."If he is:
Peeing less and drinking less
Eating more
Somewhat more active
Purring
Preening
Then that improvement is due to the insulin starting to work, and his appetite giving him some energy. And due to the fact that he's starting to eat food that's better for him. So there IS progress.
If your observation is that he seems to be feeling a little better, then he does. You, more than anyone, know YOUR cat. Trust what you see.
Also, bookmark this thread. In about 3 weeks, go back and read it again. That's when you'll know you're on your way.

Welcome to the group Tina! Loki is such a handsome kitty! I'm sure you've probably already considered it but Thumper has issues keeping herself clean also. I tried just cutting the long hair myself but she gave me a fit so whenever I take her to the vet one of the techs shaves her "potty path" :lol: It makes things a lot easier & she says Thumper doesn't give her any trouble. As far as the smell on your couch, have you ever tried Natures Miracle? It works pretty good for taking odors out. Sorry to hear about Loki's cancer but it sounds like he's doing well. I didn't look at your SS but it sounds like Loki's doing great!
