I was wondering if anyone has used the Levemir Flex Touch pen? My new veterinarian tells me that I can use the pen with Bangkok.

You can use that pen - that's what I use, you just don't use the pen needles - you use your regular insulin syringes. When you take off the cap, you'll see a little rubber seal just like what's on the vials. The pen needles only dose at full units - they're made for humans. We change our cat's insulin doses by .25 units, pen needles can't do that.

Bangkok is such a cutie....

The advantage of using the pen is that you should be able to use all of it before it goes bad. We refrigerate it to help it last.

I went to Costco and they didn't have the Levemir vials. They told me they don't make them anymore because people are using pens. So I got a penfill and I've been filling my syringes with it but I haven't kept it in the refrigerator because the pamplet says you shouldn't. Thanks for the compliments. Bangkok is a cutie, indeed. So are your kitties. They're all cuties.

We use the pens longer than humans do. Please refrigerate it to slow/prevent bacterial contamination and degradation of the insulin.

I just purchases another vial of Levemir from Walgreens last week. it is less expensive per unit than the pens. For my high-dose MurrFee, using up a 10 ml vial before the insulin goes bad is not a concern

According to their website, they are still making the vials. I think the truth may be that Costco is not stocking the vials because most people use the pens.

The Levemir Penfill cartridges are the way to go in Canada. Do keep them refridgerated. I've used them to the last drop.
