Panic

Hey all, one of my civvies has been on Adequan for about six months. When I first took him to the vet for not eating just shy of a year ago, the vet did everything short of x-rays but said it just seemed like arthritis (he wasn't eating because it was too painful to squat to reach the bowl).
Since that initial visit I've kept my eye on him. He was on pain meds for 3 days but it didn't help, and after about a week seemed to be feeling better, but still not sitting down to eat.
I tried Cosequin for 2-3 months with no visible difference and eventually pushed for Adequan. At this stage he is doing great, zooming up and down trees, wrestling with the other cats, running around, etc. But he still hovers that butt just over the floor. I see no difference in energy when I give him his monthly dose so I'm not sure if a more frequent dose would help, if I should consider pain killers, or just accept that's the way he is now. I just wonder if I should be doing anything more for him or if he's "good".
He's pushing 13 and is still very active!
