Let's see If I manage post in the right forum for once :joyful: Hope I got the headline right as well.

Kitty has had a really good day numberwise. It's the first time she has stayed away from the yellow color for over 24 hours! I think she had a bouncy off day yesterday, but all in all I feel her dose of .5 is not that bad for her?

However, with great numbers, comes great anxiety, especially when it draws closer to shot time (3 hours from now). If this does not increase, do I skip?

Yes, I have read the Sticky about the protocols. If I follow the TR protocol (which I landed on last time I read them both),I should hold the dose and give regardless, right? But I don't know if we are that confident yet, so I would rather ask for advice.

If I skip, she will probably end up high again (which also feels a shame, since she has been so good now). But at least she probably will not be hypo.

Is giving a tiny dose a better option than giving none? I'll take food away 2 hours before PS, and keep testing.

I'm in the same boat as you. Two times this week, including last night, Buddy has surprised me with an unusually low number. Both times I had to skip the shot because I could not monitor and he ended up bouncing. This morning, he was back up in the 300s. To my surprise, he was low again tonight but I went ahead and shot. I am certainly not telling you to do that (because I'm still trying to figure this all out) but I felt I had to do something different since he keeps bouncing so high.

Hopefully someone will give you some advice before it's time to inject. There are some amazing people on here with wonderful advice! Good luck!

Thank you. Sounds like we are in the same boat then! Kitty has gone quite high when I have skipped. She was at 6.3 now, and it is shooting time. So I'm thinking "shoot", maybe a skinny .5

Do you have plenty of test strips, high carb food around and are able to monitor? Three preconditions for shooting low when you don’t have much data to go on yet.

As for shooting a reduced dose, with the depot, the cycle may not look much different than if you gave the full dose.

By the way, Kitty is doing really well for such a newly diagnosed cat. :)

Yes I do. Do you think I am too bold if I shoot a skinny .5?

Okay, so I retested at 5.7 (which is slightly down), so I gave a skinny .25, and staying up throughout the night to keep an eye. If I need to nap, Il put alarms on. She has been very happy today.
Kitty went in for a cough, when she got diagnosed with diabetes. She never got to the point where I could tell she was ill. Maybe little tired, now that I think back. So I hope we caught it fairly early. (we still have no answers to why she has a cough once a day - either in the morning or when she hisses/gets upset).

I told Kitty's vets about what we had been doing, and sent her the link to Kitty's sheet. The vet was very humble and very impressed by how the sheet is made, and she said it was a good thing I didn't listen to her (she prescribed 3 units).
