Good Morning!
I got the new appetite stimulant yesterday, but am yet to give it to Kitty. She ate good yesterday afternoon and this morning.....SO....who knows?! She is so Skinny on frail, I know she must EAT. I have started back feeding her Fancy Feast, though it is very high in Phosphorus, which is bad for her kidnerys. But, I figure if she doesn't eat that her kidney condition will not matter. I have increased the phosphorus binders in an attempt to cut down on the amount of phophorus she will absorb.
The vet called last night from the vet school and he wants to see Kitty again. BUT, you will love this......He thinks her diabetes might be the problem. He thinks we should consider switching insulins! With all of Kitty's issues, I have no interest in switching insulins. He explained to me how the high numbers and swings in her BGs could be making her not want to eat. I listened politely, the entire time biting my tongue! I wanted to tell him that we have dealt with 500s and 100s for over a year and that she has ALWAYS eaten. I did explain to him that I could regulate her diabetes with Prozinc, if she would just Eat. He wants to do a fructosamine test. I told him that I was not interested, but that I would like to address her kidney condition, Pancreatitis and Heart problems if he thought he could help. I did agree to take Kitty back this week---BUT, I am not switching insulins. I can only imagine starting a shed building insulin on a cat that is not eating well-- NO Thank You!
It does seem that shooting at +10 is the best course of action for her now. So, I am testing at +8 and if the numbers allow, I am waiting until +10 to shoot. So much for the schedule!
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
