Good Morning!

I got the new appetite stimulant yesterday, but am yet to give it to Kitty. She ate good yesterday afternoon and this morning.....SO....who knows?! She is so Skinny on frail, I know she must EAT. I have started back feeding her Fancy Feast, though it is very high in Phosphorus, which is bad for her kidnerys. But, I figure if she doesn't eat that her kidney condition will not matter. I have increased the phosphorus binders in an attempt to cut down on the amount of phophorus she will absorb.

The vet called last night from the vet school and he wants to see Kitty again. BUT, you will love this......He thinks her diabetes might be the problem. He thinks we should consider switching insulins! With all of Kitty's issues, I have no interest in switching insulins. He explained to me how the high numbers and swings in her BGs could be making her not want to eat. I listened politely, the entire time biting my tongue! I wanted to tell him that we have dealt with 500s and 100s for over a year and that she has ALWAYS eaten. I did explain to him that I could regulate her diabetes with Prozinc, if she would just Eat. He wants to do a fructosamine test. I told him that I was not interested, but that I would like to address her kidney condition, Pancreatitis and Heart problems if he thought he could help. I did agree to take Kitty back this week---BUT, I am not switching insulins. I can only imagine starting a shed building insulin on a cat that is not eating well-- NO Thank You!

It does seem that shooting at +10 is the best course of action for her now. So, I am testing at +8 and if the numbers allow, I am waiting until +10 to shoot. So much for the schedule!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

Wishing everone a Great Day from Diabetic Alley.......

Happy Mother's Day to you too, Kim. Wish they could send your flowers because I know your whole crew would get together and make that FDT call for their wonderful mom!

Specialist? Reminds me of that story of the blind men describing the elephant by touching one part of his body.......he seems to be missing a few parts.

Yeah! She's eating! That's WONDERFUL news! If shooting at +10 is working for her, then go with it. You know her best! Of course it KILLS your schedule, but we all know you'd do anything for her!

Have to laugh about the insulin change (and the elephant!). Too bad you haven't been keeping up w/ her spreadsheet. You could take that in with you and demonstrate just how well she had been getting along until this P-titus outbreak! Just think how proud St. Sue would be of you!!!

Someone recently told me that her vet admitted that in vet school, they spent 15 minutes learning about FD :o . We just have to remember that when we're making decisions for our babies... we know them best!

A good day to the crew - and Happy Mother's Day to you & your mom! I entertained my mom on the phone last night reading her the posts from Chewy's OTJ party! She got quite a kick out of all the comments! She's also glad that I have others that are equally committed to their cats helping guide me along this path - although she wonders about us sometimes!!!

KittyGirl! Oh you've made my day SO much better! Keep eatin' sweet baby!

Chewy! Even tho' you're now OTJ, you're still extra sweet....

Miss Sally - Harley sure enjoyed his dances.... :-D He wants to know when the next party is....

HUGS KIM! Happy Mother's Day! You're amazing my friend!
