Last night pmps 288 and I shot a conservative 2.25.

And like Joanna suggested, this morning we paid! The amps was 460. Thursday when the amps was is this range, I shot 3.25, so my decision this morning probably will not be popular!!! I only shot 3.00 this morning, in hopes that I can balance out the amps and pmps to more equal numbers. I really think Kitty is a 3 unit dose bid--but, would love to have simiar preshot numbers.

Remember, this is new to me and I want to feel comfortable with the dose.

As crazy as this sounds, I am elated to see these swings to some extent--because I realize the PZI is working. Prior to Wednesday, Kitty was getting 3.5 to 3.75 units and still having red preshots. The vet was convinced she was resistant.

It does appear the insulin was her problem, and while I am certain the fluids are helping her, it doesn't appear they are driving lower bgs--she received 100 mls yesterday. She does look great and is well hydrated, so hopefully her kidneys are loving the fluids!

Her hunger does seem to be better controlled the last few days. She even let me sleep last night!

We will see what today brings!

I hope I didn’t steer you too conservative last night Kim. I wanted to be helpful and walk thru things with ya but it’s scary to not be conservative with someone else’s kitty! Glad the fluids seem to be helping and that she left you sleep last night.
Here’s to better numbers today and beyond. Good on ya both :)

This sounds good to me. All these things are important - that she is eating less, acting happier. I do think you are probably conservative with the doses, but it is VERY important that you are comfortable with the amounts you are shooting. One thing to keep in mind is that .25 increases are tiny increases and should not cause a rapid drop in numbers at the numbers you are shooting. But you will be more comfortable with time and things like your high amps this morning will be information you can go back to and use for future dosing decisions.

You can never be conservative for me!!!

I appreciate the help. I am just glad Kitty is showing movement on the insulin. We have gone from ulcers over thinking she was insulin resistant, to ulcers over what to dose! I will take the later!

Have a good day--it looks like Asher is doing Great!

Like you suggested, I think with the new vial of insulin it is a little bit of re-learning what works for Kitty. Last night and today will give you good data for future decisions. So glad you are seeing some movement with the #'s.
