Kitty 3.3 (59) preshot. Advice needed :)

I'm new to this, but if you don't have the data to back up how your cat does at low numbers, I'd consider that a no-shoot number.

I know you are doing TR. Are you going to be around to do the testing every two hours as recommended?

Looks like Kitty really wants that reduction!!!! Is there a reason you haven't taken it yet? Usually we only do the "three lime green" rule on long-term diabetics. In any case, I think she's making her point-- down to 0.75U on the next shot.

Even if you do skip, this is definitely a night where you want to get another test in to make sure she's behaving herself. She's looking good!

We have not reduced the dosage because the TR post does not state 3x lime green, it just says under 40.

I will be around all day to test and feed whenever.

For those posting, kitty is being treated using a tightly regulated method. It's a lot more aggressive and maintained method with lots of testing.

Is this a different version of TR than we use here? Or has Kitty been diabetic for more than a year? From the sticky in this forum (my bolding):

  • If kitty drops below 40 (long term diabetic) or 50 (newly diagnosed diabetic) reduce the dose by 0.25 unit. If kitty has a history of not holding reductions well or if reductions are close together... sneak the dose down by shaving the dose rather than reducing by a full quarter unit.

She is DIabetic since 2018, she is not newly diagnosed. Just came back out of remission last December.

Ah, I see. OK, the "three below 50" thing I mentioned above is another reduction standard that is also used for long-term diabetics (although it does not seem to be in the TR guide itself-- maybe it got edited out in the last revision?). In any case, under that standard, Kitty has earned a reduction.

You'll probably be shooting numbers in the 50's soon (you're pretty close now, having shot numbers in the 70's), but I don't think skipping is a bad idea for tonight. It will give both of you a little break (although of course, you want to get at least one test in this evening anyway, just to make sure she is coming up!). [Edit: simultaneous post with you, looks like you shot. I think she'll do fine, glad you'll be able to monitor tonight to see what she's doing!]
