It's hard to believe that less than one month ago, Stinky's BG was so high that he topped the meter. I was told that he'd need two shots a day for the rest of his life - no ifs, ands or buts. Thank goodness I found this board, Dr. Lisa Pierson, and believed in the power of the protocol and a low-carb diet. Stinky has now been off insulin for longer than he was on it.

Sure, the OTJ may not be forever, but I see so many other positive changes in him thanks to the low-carb diet. And no matter what, I know he has many happy years ahead of him, insulin or not.

Thank you to everyone who came to my aid when I came here in a panic in mid-August.

Fantastic! :RAHCAT :RAHCAT But we know, that if Stinky's mom hadn't been open to our crazy suggestions, this wouldn't be the case. Congrats on being a great sugarmom.

Just wanted to check in so that newbies can see that there is hope for a stable, happy, healthy life with insulin - and that remission is even possible when following the protocol here. Lots of home testing (and as a result - smart dosing) and diet change (ultra-low carb) can make it happen. Stinky has now been insulin-free for more than a month and happier and healthier than ever at age 13! Yay Stinky!!

Your post gives me hope as I am struggling with a new diagnosis! I spoke with Dr. Lisa today. Congrats to you and Stinky!
