My kitty who is 18 has several health issues including Ibd and diabetes from the steroids. Her diabetes has been not well monitored but has been ok by periodic testing at the vet. Starting in November she began losing weight after two years of stable weight from being on budesonide for Ibd. She has had all blood work, ultrasound etc and no cause has appeared.
She has just gotten the freestyle libre sensor because it seemed her diabetes might be causing the weight loss. She got the sensor yesterday and I have scanned her and recorded intake and insulin carefully and will continue to. Her glucose levels are not bad. Her level before breakfast today was 112 and after breakfast was 128. I didn't give her insulin. Yesterday afternoon her level was about 157 before eating and about 178 after eating. She eats small amounts of fancy feast about every hour. The highest level 200 was late yesterday after dinner and her flavored chew treat. Over night her reading was about 140 before small FF portion
Would this kind of reading be likely to cause a 1/4 pound weight loss for months? She has basically had everything else ruled out including thyroid etc.
Thank you. I am very worried about her.
