Hey all, my internet connection has been going in and out so i'll be a bit spotty. Wasn't much testing today being extemely hung over! Shoulda stayed home!!! So, yesterday I started feeding Junior 1/8 can more. Last night I unfortunately left out Johnny's bag of dry food (he's still on a mix of dry and wet) and found Junior, all I could see was his hind legs, the rest of him inside the bag. I have no idea how much he ate. His numbers surprisingly low considering.

Check out ss if you can.

WOW! Pretty amazing numbers for a cat that got caught "in the bag!" Early on, Grayson had a LOT of spikes from getting into contrabanned food. Let's see if it makes a difference in the coming hours....

PM +2 216..... after shot, got into MORE food!!!!!! Our chicken roasted in oil and herbs and mac n cheese. Any explanation for him being soooooooo much more hungry since the visit to the vet? Convenia shot have any effect like this???

Maybe Junior is exploring all the food options at home? I think I used the word "ravenous" more times in 2 months of Grayson's threads, than in the 50 preceding years! Needless to say, my guy was opening cabinets, tearing through plastic bags and cardboard boxes, opening an oak bread box to access cat treats that have been stored there for longer than he's been alive, canned goods, egg noodles... you name it! Last week he was making a casserole: Green beans, Cream of something soup, dry cheese packets (from Kraft Mac & Cheese)... What's up with that??? His starving appetite was a good sign, as it related to his ketones, but I'm not sure WHY he's been so hungry. Anything that wasn't nailed down... he was on it. He could smell dry kibble through three doors - and find the one crumb the dogs had missed!

This is primarily the reason I started feeding him every few hours. Otherwise, by +6 he was miserable and by +10, he'd have worked himself into such a fit that he'd throw up - mostly water, cuz the food was all en route. But he didn't need that. Honestly, I think Libby has it right... consistent meals at consistent intervals. Hershey wasn't snarfing food when he was here, and we've both been at it for about 2 months now. Of course he hadn't been much more than 12 pounds, I think she said. Grayson had been 21.6. He did NOT like to miss a meal.

That being said, he has gained back about a pound in the 2 months since he started his insulin, now weighing in at 13.4 pounds. He's still REALLY skinny around his butt/hips, but otherwise looks good. Hard to imagine that, w/ all the canned food he's eating, but I guess his metabolism is working, even if Mr. P is not!

Right now our record keeping is one of the most important things we can do. Be thorough - once we have enough data, we can do some analysis and see how our kitty responds to various stimuli. Good luck!

Ok LuAnn....+4 is 139!!!!!!! It's so awesome but frustrating. More food, smaller doses, lower numbers. Well, a better curve is probably a better way to put it. He's definitely been lower, I just mean considering the dose, he did not spike @ ps as usual. Feeding him in the middle of the day will almost not be possible 2 weeks from now, nor will all the testing cuz i'll be back to work full time and gone 10-12 hrs 2 days and totally away 2 nights every week. I've been thinking about an auto feeder for a mid day snack, problem is Johnny cat. Maybe I should just get one and give it a whirl while i'm still home. CARL.... if you happen to read this I still intend on sending you a pm about food stuff!!!!!

Junior climbed inside the fridge today when I opened it, NEVER did that before......

139 is AMAZING!!!

Well, that must mean you have more good stuff in your fridge than I do in mine! Grayson's already figured out that I keep the "lock & key" stuff in the microwave. Thank God he doesn't have opposable thumbs!!! Right now the freeze dried chicken treats are in the trunk of my car - I don't DARE bring them in!!!

Although I usually come home and let the dogs out at lunch, there have been plenty of times the cats didn't get fed for the full 8-12 hours. I think when they see us, they think "Um, Food Giver is home! Must be time to eat!" (Stanley thinks that every time I walk through the hallway!) I'm sure Junior will be just fine on those days. I was looking at some spreadsheets in the other insulin groups today... when they say "tight regulation" - they are serious. Not a schedule I could keep, with a variety of night meetings and early days sometimes. We're fortunate that Prozinc is flexible - 1/2 hour here, an hour there... and the world doesn't come to an end.

You must be like me... +4 and trying to stay up to see "how low can he go???!!!"

Grayson is at +5.5 and he's down from PS 403 to 240 - this is the biggest drop I've seen in a long while. That increased dose kickin' in! I need to run to Wally World for some stuff, but I've missed the 4, 5 and 6 readings so many times due to work or sleep, I hate to go. I'd resigned myself to going to sleep.. Walmart after our 6:30 shot (I hate crowds there!) but now that he's still going down, not up as I thought at +5, I need to stay up a little while longer. My sleep has been totally screwed up these past few weeks!!!
