Julius update

Hello all!
I am doing my first home curve on Julius. I have been giving him raw diet and insulin (glargine) twice a day. It was initially 1 unit in the AM and .5 in the PM. However his numbers are staying in the mid 200's. So i decided to bump his PM dose to 1 unit. So far today his glucose is
7:17am 222
insulin at 7:44am
9:41am 230
12:24pm 219

Those of you who have done curves before what do you think? I faxed off my complete log of shots/glucose to my vet this morning. I want to see if we should up his dose a bit since he is not staying in the 100's. Do you measure exact quantities of food when you feed? if so how much do you feed? I have not been measuring, just eyeballing it. I bought ketone sticks today, I have never done that before but want to. How long do I need to hold it in his stream?

I can't answer any of your Lantus questions. Have you posted over on the Lantus support group? They all use your insulin and can help you figure out dosage. viewforum.php?f=9 They will ask if you have read the stickies on the top of the page, so do that first. Then in your subject line, put NEWBIE dose advice needed. It's a busy forum so you want to put that you have a question.

For ketones, just stick in the stream as he goes. Then compare it to an unused strip.
