UPDATE
wanted to follow up by posting part of an email from jojo:
"just so ya know, i saved him! a week plus of round the clock nursing care and some luck did it. i just knew he was not done, he didn't have that look in eyes or behavoirs of cat wanting to go even though both vets said he was done. he is 100% back to (his) normal now. i don't know what caused his crash, but vets couldn't see past his age, and it didn't make sense to me that at 19.5 yrs old he was fine and at 19.5 years old plus one day he was soooo not doing well. like how was his age a factor in his symtoms? he is off even the appy stims now and eating great. just continueing the pet tinic (which he hates) for hsi anemia in addition to his reg meds/tx (tap and little bits of SQuids). my vet kept saying it was kidneys too, however his creatinine is great, phos is great, etc. only BUN up a bit but that can be from diet....just don't know why his USG is so very low. lots of money (didn't have) spent for no answers as to what happened, but don't care, all that matters is that he is back. oh and since i was staying up round the clock anyways decided to trap a large colony i was told about, got 53 cats in one week. haha vet hosptial loved me for that one. [edited out personal info] i am still physically paying for that effort though, really not up to doing something like that...but mentally it was good for me."
