Hello my name is Debbie my cat is Snowy and has had very difficult time since August with very high blood sugar my vet is now switching her to Lantus I can only afford the pen that runs about 103.00 at Wal-Mart but now one of the tech at the vets is saying they had a problem with it sticking and a person didn't think she was giving her cat a dose and kept giving to much so I am very concerned about it now the dose is only one unit twice a day . Please advise as to what you all have dealt with the Lantus pen.

Hi Debbie, i think most of us with the lantus pen draw insulin from it with a .5 unit gauge syringe. I will let the other members voice, but i DO NOT use the needles that come with the pen. Hope that helps

Novolin n 2 units in am 2 units pm since 2017 she(Snowy) was ok until August of this year blood sugar was in 300, 400,500 and 600 really swinging and now switching to Lantus.

Novolin is a short acting insulin not recommended for cats. It’s used for dogs. You will see a big difference with lantus or a biosimilar insulin.
